I highly recommend TIVO or DVR from your cable company. You will never miss your favorites - and never have to watch commercials! It's the greatest! Sort of like having your cake and eating it too..............

We love TIVO... Didn't miss any shows while we were on our cruise. They were all waiting for us when we arrived home....

Recipes: My husband & I sailed on the Dawn in July '05, and loved so many of the dishes, that we asked for recipes. They were more than happy to give us them. They send them directly to your cabin. We came home with about 7 different recipes. Also,

But how do you scale it down fron several thousand people to just 2?

In the past, I read on a post that it is a good idea to make extra copies of your documents, passport, or other ID, insurance coverage, etc.. Secure these in a baggie and put one in each piece of luggage.

Also, when ordering soft drinks, ask for Mega Bloody Mary Mug - it won't blow over in the wind, and holds more!

Lastly, it seems from what I have read here and else where, if you want something, ask politely,( with a few bucks) and most likely, your desires will be met.

Being a new cruiser, I will be testing all of the suggestions soon. Hopefully, the good hints will keep rolling in.

:)

Putting your copies of your documents, Passport, ID, Insurance coverage in your luggage is not a good Tip. Identities can be stolen with this much information.

Take your Latitude card with you and you can use it to use the shorter line for past passengers to check in. It helped us when we cruised on the Dream and I am hoping it will on the Jewel in July

like2cruise - Yes there is a Latitudes line, but I have found on my last 2 cruises, that it moves slower than the "regular" line due to less agents working that line. 2 cruises ago, I stood in Latitudes and watched people that came in after me board the ship before me. My last cruise I stood in the regular line and passed Latitudes members that had stood there longer than me. This is one of my complaints to NCL... if you are going to have a Latitudes line or VIP line, it should be served faster than the regular passenger line, or there is no advantage to using it.

We found that if you called or were standing at the reservations area a bit before it opened, you could reserve that day and the next with no problems. We got all the restaurants and times we wanted, and never gave it another thought.

My father and his wife sailed last summer to Alaska and did not take our advice -- they were disappointed and never ate in a specialty restaurant because they would show up at the door and find there was at least an hour wait.

If it's important to you, make it a priority :)

I agree Intrepid Guy it should be a fast line, but on the Dream from New Orleans we benefited by using the Latitide Line. I would guess it could vary from sailing to sailing. After several cruises I am still anxious to get onboard and no line seems to go fast enough, but waiting in line is great people watching. We always identify the one or two people that we know we are going to see over and over and over on our cruise :D

On the Majesty, Cabin's 660 and 661 ( C-catagory) are larger in size than other cabins in this cat. Their may be more hidding somewhere but these two I know are bigger. They are located right next to the Casino but I have never been borthered by any noise... The location is great, the only time we had to take the elevator is going to the pool area.

If your sailing to Bermuda from Boston, port side will be facing land. Great views of the center. We watched the "Dunking of the wench" right from our room.

On the Dawn....

Dont over look the childrens selection at the garden buffet! The kiddies get juice all day! They also get those staples like hamburgers, hotdogs,! I love my french fries!

When they have a BBQ on the deck... take your food to the garden buffet and eat it there. No need to find a seat outside or eat in the sun!

Dont over look going to the bar on deck 13 (on top of the pool) ...they serve steak sandwichs at lunch among other things (and they have fries too)

The pool in the spa area is NOT for people buying spa treatments, its for everone. But dont tell too many people:)

Use the spa showers /sauna after a long shower and sauna you will feel like a million bucks (and its nicer then those small cabin showers) They have NICE towels in the spa showers. I mean NICE! better then the pool towels or the towels in your room. I promise.

Skip the chocolate buffet and get some good deserts elsewhere. The chocolate is cheap its way to crowded.

The ships water is probally more filtered then evian. Dont buy water! Save your money for the booze! Bring a water bottle and keep refilling.

When leaving NYC on the dawn... stand in the back of the ship (AFT) not the front. The front of the ship has huge glass blocking the view. Espeically if you want to take photos. the back/side of the ship just has railing.

If you did'nt make reservations to a restraunt and decide to go that night...dont sweat it! Just go and ask if you can get in anytime that night. I'v had great luck doing this.

If your sailing on the Dawn dont forget about Salas! I think this restraunt is really overlooked. I think its better then chilis ! Great ribs , fajiats, tapas...etc. Dont miss it!

Good tips, thanks..... I like to use a straw with drinks that have ice, and the kids buffet was the only place I could find straws on the ship this time. Wasn't crazy about the chocolate buffet either and I love chocolate. There were a few things I liked, but most seemed very similar to me. I was probably still full from lunch though. ;)
