happy2bee Posted September 27, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2012 A group of friends would like to do the 5 night cruise out of Galveston next summer. Many of the group will be first-timers. We would like to book balcony rooms and have them as close together as possible. There will be 5 to 6 rooms. What is the best way to book these? Should we try to find an agent or book directly thru Carnival? When is the best time to book? Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated! JohninDC Posted September 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2012 I would explore both with Carnival and with an agent - see who can get you the best set of rooms and/or the best prices. The sooner, the better!;) Good luck! :)
flounder315 Posted September 27, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2012 Book directly with a Carnival rep. you will be able to get all 5 or 6 rooms side by side by side. We did that with 5 rooms 3 Balconies and 2 interiors right across the hall. worked out great
SlingBlade Posted September 27, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2012 Call Carnival & book with them. Only one person needs to call, just be sure you have everyones information...Proper names on BC DL or PP,address, CC# for the deposit. The rep will book one cabin at a time, making sure all cabins are near eachother. The rep will also link the ressies so that yall are able to be seated together in the MDR. Piece of cake ;)
dct Posted September 27, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2012 Find an agent that sells mostly cruises. Why do you people want Carnival to handle everything. An Agent is a advocate between the cruise line and you. A good agent can do everything you said Carnival does and is someone in your community trying to make a living spending money in the business you work in to help pay for your next cruise. It's 2012, an agent is a vestigial organ.
cherrycola Posted September 27, 2012 #7 Share Posted September 27, 2012 Personally, I would go to a travel agent, one you can speak to in person. Our TA handled the booking for our group of 5 rooms, and it worked out great. We had rooms next to each other. At the time, the price was the same as if booking directly with cruise line, with OBC offer. So why do all the calling/paperwork if you could get a professional to do it :)
Carnival_Brides Posted September 27, 2012 #8 Share Posted September 27, 2012 We booked five rooms next to each other all at once with a PVP. He was able to take the deposit off our card in one sum instead of five separate ones and it took me less than 30 minutes to get it all sorted. ccruisequeen Posted September 27, 2012 #9 Share Posted September 27, 2012 We paid for four cabins for a 9-member family cruise. Our PVP gave us the booking numbers, assigned the names to each cabin, and we provided names, birthdates, past member numbers (where applicable) and were emailed all the info. I took charge of notifying everyone their booking # so they could sign into Carnival.com to set up SS info and take care of their own paperwork once we made final payment. Right and a travel can do all that plus help you find the right cruise not just take your order.
loxley Posted September 28, 2012 #11 Share Posted September 28, 2012 Right and a travel can do all that plus help you find the right cruise not just take your order. I would not cruise if I had to use a TA. That is how bad I have been burned. Never again.
ccruisequeen Posted September 28, 2012 #12 Share Posted September 28, 2012 Right and a travel can do all that plus help you find the right cruise not just take your order. We had already chosen the cruise we just needed to set up the details. Our PVP has been very good for us so far; I even found a $20 drop per cabin and he applied it- no muss no fuss. We had a Past Guest rate with upgrades and arranged it so all of us got it by putting a Past Guest in each cabin. Of course a few of us will have to go down to Guest Services to rearrange cabins once we get on board but that isn't hard.
