Taxi questions

How easy is it to get taxis on St. Martin? I really wanted to book with Joyce Prince but she is already booked for the day we will be there! What I wanted to do is just shop on our own in Philipsburg and then take a taxi to Marigot for some snacks and shopping. Then later take a taxi to a beach on the French side. And finally catch another taxi back to the ship. Will this be pretty easy to do?

Using taxis as you suggest is not a problem as long as Orient is your choice of beach. It is the only French side beach with taxis readily available. You might flag one down in Grand Case, and there may or may not be one waiting at the Pinel ferry stop, but at Orient there are many waiting there all the time.

However, since French side shops close midday, how about first heading to Marigot for your shopping and snacks, on to Orient, and finish up with shopping in Philipsburg?

That will put you back near the ship at the end of the day, so less chance of an emergency high-speed taxi back to the ship.
