loves2cruisecouple Posted April 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Me and my Dh want to take a Mediterranean cruise possibly this fall. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on which cruise line they preffered? And what ports were the best. We've been to Venice and Rome and would love to go back there as well as see some of Greece. Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
kayakfam Posted April 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2004 We're looking into a Med cruise for next year. Princess has an itinerary from Venice to Rome, stopping at several Greek Isles. RCCL's Brillance of the Seas does a Barcelona round trip, stopping in Rome, Naples and a few Greek islands. Celebrity doesn't have their itinerary out for next year, but at looking for this year, I think the Galaxy does a nice itinerary. Good luck. luv2cruise450 Posted May 1, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2004 How late into the fall are you considering? Other than Costa and some other European based lines...,many of the lines that we know here don't stay in the Mediterranean past Oct./Nov....their ships start heading back westbound...many for the late fall and winter cruising season in the Caribbean. HAL has several European itineraries that look great. But first you'll have to narrow down the time that you plan on going, if you want to do the western or eastern mediterranean and then you should talk to a TA about what ships are available that fit your criteria. Krazy Kruizers Posted May 2, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2004 Mediterranean We have done several of these cruises. And by different cruise lines - Cunard, NCL, HAL and Princess. What you need to do is decide how many days you want to cruise and what ports you are interested in. Between all the cruise lines we did a lot of different ports and and enjoyed them all. GracieAtTara Posted May 2, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 2, 2004 We are taking Windstar in November to the Mediterranean focusing on Italy and France. This will be our first cruise on Windstar so unfortunately I can't share any past expriences, but have read very good things about them. Their smaller ships (300 passengers on the Wind Surf their largest ship) and number of ports of call were appealing. We also looked at HAL and they have two 12-day cruises: one leaving 10/28 out of Athens (Piraeus) and another leaving 10/31 out of Rome (Civitavecchia). All three itineraries were interesting to us. Hope this is somewhat helpful to you!
jjones Posted May 2, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2004 I just returned from the Star Princess Venice to Rome with 6 Greek ports. My "preview" is on page 4 on the Princess board. It was great! solo cruzer

We would love to hit Rome, Venice, Athens, Santorini. Thanks for all the tips!! Andee Posted May 4, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 4, 2004 We're going on the Oceania Lines Insignia in October. But, we slected it, in part, because it didn't include "Rome", which isn't on the coast. We didn't want to do a 10 hour excursion that included 3 hours travel time between the ship and Rome.
