kelkel2 Posted October 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2012 Ok, So we cancelled our delta flight. Long story short it was supposed to leave at noon, then they put us on one that left at 1:55 getting us to FLL waay later than I wanted on a Friday evening with still having to drive to Miami. Re-booked with southwest and our direct flight from chicago will get us to FLL at 10:05 am and from there we are taking a shuttle to Miami. So we are pretty much going to have a whole day in Miami instead of just an evening. Question is: Is there anything else to do around the Holiday Inn POM other than biscayne marketplace? I think we will go to the mall at some point that day, but would like to have other options. We will need lunch and dinner in Miami now and we are looking for something fun to do that is close to the hotel. Either within walking distance or a short cab ride. We really don't want to spend a ton of our budgeted vacation money on taxis!
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 11, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2012 I would take a taxi over to South Beach. It is about $20.00 each way but it is really nice to walk around the area. Keith
eandj Posted October 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Agree that you need to head over to Miami BEACH/ South Beach. There are also water tours of the bay islands, Duck tours (land to water) that you could pick up in South beach or even at Bayside Marketplace. You are correct that you don't want to spend the whole day in downtown Miami.
miamiyogi Posted October 12, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2012 You could go to South Beach on taxi or there are multiple bus routes from the Adreinne Arscht Station for $2.00 per person. Other things to check out in downtown Miami and surrounding area Visit the Historical Museum and or Art Museum Visit the 2nd largest Jewlery Building in the US (Seybold) Check out historical buildings like Freedom Tower, Olympia Theater, Dupont Building, and the oldest Catholic Church in Miami (Gesu) Ride the free metromover for great views of the Miami Skyline Visit Mary Brickell Village for shops/dining/pubs Tobacco Road Check out the Miami Circle and Brickell Park Ride the free Miami Trolley Take Metrorail to Vizcaya Board the B bus to the end to Bill Baggs State Park there you'll find a lagoon style beach, canoeing, nature trails, bikes and a lighthouse to check out Visit the SkyLobby/Terrace of Miami Center, Miami's signature building. From Brickell Station bus into Little Havana for a cafesito.
