Cruise line with no kids permitted?

here is my thinking. I am cruising in oct. I dont mind if there are children on board, I just hope i dont see them in places like around the bar area, or in the hot tub splashing next to me. I think if the parents control and restrict their children to the childrens activities all will be well. I am also sure that RCI would have rules pertaining to children in public areas.

HA! That's funny!

Having rules is one thing, having the corporate GUTS to enforce them is another. The casino, yes. The adult comedy show, yes. Anywhere else, you can pretty much forget about it.

Eleven cruises so far. Up next:

Perhaps something else as well. Watch this space.

You got that right.

I have had babies in strollers right beside me at the Roulette table.I have had young boys during show time pinching and slapping each other through the entertainment without the parent doing anything to them.(very distracting)I have had babies on parents laps in the Casino whilst they are pulling on the slot machine right beside me.The signs that say Adult only are ignored. I have unsuccesfully tried to cruise with less kids.Almost impossible,as the time for school breaks vary and parents so ignorantly 'PULL' their kids out of school so they can cruise.('boy oh boy' This would not happen in my home!)

I have already have mind set myself for my 50th birthday cruise to Alaska August 8th as I know it is peak holiday travel time for families.

 • 2 weeks later...

I am going to dive right in to the fray here. I am not offended at all by people who look to cruise with minimal amount of children. I am that way myself. Our half-serious motto is "a kid's old enough to go to a restaurant when the kid's old enough to pay for it". But please don't lump all kids into the wild and/or unsupervised group. My daughters are 14 and 15. Their first cruise was August 03 to Alaska. Their next cruise will very likely be during the school year, not during any school vacation. Why? Because it's more expensive to travel during the weeks everyone has off from school, my husband has a tougher time guaranteeing he can get the week off if it's a week everyone else is vacationing with their kids, and I don't want to cruise on a ship that's 30-40% little kids, either! Am I hurting my kids' education for this? No. When the time comes, I'll have all their work given out by their teachers. To anyone who frowns on kids missing school for a trip, my kids don't get to stay home if they get up late, or failed to study, or have some undiagnosable malaise, or a dentist appointment, etc. Except for true illness, their days off a few and well-planned. Good luck to those looking for a peaceful cruise! I hope to find one too. Maybe we'll see you in the Caribbean this February or March. Look for my kids, they'll be the ones playing ping-pong, or enjoying the wonderful food, or quietly laying on deck chairs, with textbooks.

Hello, all. Our family has cruised many times and our daughter (almost 12) and she and I will be taking out FIRST cruise this without dad. I am not at all happy about having to cruise when the ship is flooded with children (mine included) and this cruise will be the one to determine if we are ever going to go "in season" again.

In the past, we have always pulled our daughter out of school to go on cruises. She is a serious student and an avid reader--one of her main concerns about going on the cruise ship was how good the library is and what hours the library is open (which ruled out Carnival for her, depsite their beautiful library--the hours posted were only 9:30 to 10:30--just an hour per day!). We have had no regrets about having her sail with us off-season. On one trip it enabled us to cruise/tour Asia for almost 2 months and absorb so much of the culture. My daughter learned a great deal: primarily, that she has little desire to return to Asia (though hubby and I loved it!). Because our daughter is such an obliging student and a quick study, the interruptions in her school years have been inconsequential. However, let me say that we would NOT consider off-season travel if our daughter was of a less studious temperament.

What galls me most is not the presence of children but the presence of unruly, undisciplined, and/or obnoxious children--and the parents who allow them to act this way! If only all children behaved with manners and consideration for others! As cruisers, I think we should expect and demand that the cruise ship staff and crew step forward and take action when they see children misbehaving if the parents are not around. And if the parents are nearby, how hard would it be for a crew member to politely ask the parents to control their children?

Sorry to hear you do not like children pulled out of school. I happen to feel that many vacations offer a greater educational experience than the classroom does at times. My son has been "pulled out" a number of times with most teachers blessing. They as we, feel seeing the Panama Canal, The Coloseum, The Alps, Alaska... teaches a child better then just reading about about a place. I just feel fortunate that I can give him these experiences.

We have cruised for years and years, and quite honestly we have been bothered much more by drunk, unruly ADULTS. I can handle a child running around, even if they are noisy, but a drunk, loud, obnoxious adult is a total turnoff. I only wish they could see themselves through others eyes. Too bad it takes drinking for some adults to have fun.

I have been bothered mostly by inconciderate parents who cannot control their unruly little darlings.

The child miss behavior cruising blame lies soley in the parents hands.

You've got to be kidding me!

Nobody's kidding you. Children are "technically" barred from the casino, but unlike Las Vegas, ship security is hesitant to enforce it. Lounges? Yep, they're in there.

The two places that I've seen the strictest enorcement are 1) the disco after 11 pm, and 2) the midnight "adult" comedy shows.

*Bashing my head on my desk*

Thats terrible! There are places for kids and places for adults - a bar/lounge is certainly one of the latter!

Well, at least I am going in October and will hopefully have to deal with less children climbing on the bar stool next to me icon_smile.gif

I thought so too, once upon a time.

Don't get me started on the irresponsible parents who yank their kids out of school so they may go on a "family cruise."
