FTTF- don't get upset that I ask

Thanks for the responses. I know I will have a great time whether I buy it or not. $50 would be more drinks on the ship.

Only thing that interests me most is the prIorIty tender boarding. But I can wait with the best of them. I also don't want to be eye-balled by the platinum members.

I can't wait as this is my first cruise. Woo Hoo! As I say in my job in planning large events, as long as I don't get food poisoning or die, it will be a success! :D

You won't be eyeballed by the Platinums because other than perhaps at GS we won't encounter you. You don't get to check in through the VIP lines or in the VIP lounge. After you have checked in at the regular counter you are seated in an area that will allow you to embark the ship right after the VIPs.

I have read many posts on this but am having trouble finding if people think it is a good deal and worth it?

Just noticed its available on the ecstasy for my cruise in 2 weeks.

I guess it comes down to how many hours do you need to work, to make up for that "saved" time. Is it worth 5 hours of work for someone making $10 an hour?

FTTF is an insult to those who invested their time and money to stay loyal to Carnival. CCL has put a price on that loyalty, it's worth $50.

Regardless of whether you feel slighted or not, this has nothing to do with OPs initial question and will just start conflict again.

I'm hoping to purchase this service (like any other service I purchase on board) for my next cruise.

On number 4 - there is no way to bypass the line for anytime dining whether you're FTTF or Diamond.

Sorry to disagree, but we certainly did on the Imagination. We FTTF people were escorted to the right side of the line immediately upon showing our SnS cards with the FTTF designation. We never waited in line for ATD.

Are the FTTF S&S cards marked? I've only seen FTTF boarding passes on CC.

Yes, our cards on the Imagination were marked on the back as part of the actual card, not a sticker as some have indicated. It's a permanent part of your card....at least that's how it was for us.

I purchased it for our November cruise based on getting immediate access to our room and our luggage being delivered right away. In May two of our 4 checked luggage peices were not delivered until after dinner. I would like to unpack and be done and have a little time in the room before the 1:30 standard time.

I have 7 cruises and another one booked. There is no way I can fit in 2 more cruises before the deadline next December to be Platinum, either timewise or moneywise. After my next cruise, I'll have 51 days, which means I need 24 to make platinum with the new program. If that is 4 more 7 day cruises, that's $200. Cheaper than booking 2 more cruises for 2 people. f(or $250 including the cruise that is booked for next spring) I'm handicapped and getting to the room and leaving my carryon bag and/or being able to rest after a stressful day or two or traveling would be wonderful!

Now if they will only start offering it on all the cruises!

I think the point they were trying to make is that it is not an

advertised benefit.....

another example of inconsistancy on Carnival....

so while it is nice when it happens, I would not purchase the FTTF expecting it.

For this Diamond member, I would not "sneer" at anyone that purchased it...

I am just realistic enough to know that while I love Carnival's product....they have a very long and clear history of messing up toast.

Frankly I am just tired of being made certain promises that are not kept.

IF managed properly, this will have little to no affect on me.

However, managing anything properly has never been Carnival's strong suit.

We are talking about a company that can not even get the VIP stuff right yet. (overcrowded VIP rooms and slow service)

And now they are adding not only FTTF but the Airport Express Service...while telling the VIP that we will not be affected at all.

Just kinda tired of having someone pee on my leg and then trying to convince me it is raining!!

Is the $50 per person or stateroom? I think $100 would really be over the top. Have only done 1 Carnival cruise a while back so am not up on all he latest "stuff".

TIA

Sue

Nope...$50 per cabin....(up to 5 people if on the Ecstasy and other ships that allow 5 to a cabin)

FTTF is a disgusting concept. They are charging you to bypass a line which shouldn't exist at all. I hope the program fails.

Instead of addressing problems and eliminating bottlenecks to make the waiting lines shorter, Carnival has recently made lines longer and more visible. It seems like a deliberate attempt to sell the FTTF program.

That said, since lines are now longer, you'd benefit if any of the following applies:

You would like to board early without a long wait

You have a tender in any port and are not on a Carnival excursion

You want to visit Guest Services without a long wait

You have anytime dining

You want to disembark early.

Actually, I think this is the "advertised benefit" for priority dining accomodations, including YTD:

Dining Reservations

Priority Main Dining Room and Specialty Restaurant reservations.

I still don't see why people get so bent out of shape over this , I can honestly say I am both sides of the coin on this one. I have bought it and am going to use it an a few days , hope it works out on the Liberty. By our Dream cruise in 13 we will be Platinum still won't bother me if they sell it. So what if 30-50 other people are mixed in amongst us can't see how that will put such a kink in the system. I like the early luggage aspect and getting to your room early, tendering is a nice bonus. Some are like like it such a waste of money , so what its how we choose to spend our vacation dollars , I may think spending $150 to swim with the dolphins is a waste of money just sayin. :) If its something you want go for it.

The FTTF people will not be mixed in among you during check in or embarkation, they will still go through regular check in and have no access to the VIP lounge. They will board after all weddings, HC and VIP guests have boarded, but before zone 1.

The only thing that will bother me is if I have to stand in line at the Conceirge line behind ANY FTTF people. I paid A BUNCH of money to get to my VIP status and this isn't a perk that should be included in FTTF just because someone coughed up $50.........

I have 2 more cruises to get in by the deadline of Dec/2013...

Im gonna "fake it... till I make it!!!!!!"... and very happily... It will be the best

$100 I have spent in a while.

I also spend HUGE bucks to stay on site at Universal during peak time so I can

utilize the "front of the line pass".... And LOVE Disney's "fast pass" system.....

I am "disgusting"... WOW!!! I can live with that........

I see where you are coming from and its understandable but I have to ask..

So what are your opinions on those who purchase it? Do the Carnival devotees / Platinums in the lounge sneer at the FTTF folks?

I certainly dont think so. This program comes from Carnival, and if given the opportunity I think most Platinum and up guests would probably take advantage of FTTF if they were still Blue or Gold card holders. I personally wouldnt do that being that it really is a cool program and even though I feel like Carnival definitely changed the rules mid-game, all of us cruisers just want to enjoy our vacations and have fun.:)

Oh I know that and for us I wont even use that stuff anyway as an FTTF or VIP or not much , I very rarely go to guest services but guess it will be nice to not have to wait :) We normally always eat late. Dont hurry off the ship that much on tenders although this cruise we do have an early cavetubing thing so another plus for us not to have to get tender tickets ....

But I would agree $50 only should get so much but you know how that goes sometimes.

And here I thought you paid a BUNCH of money for your vacation! I certainly wouldn't pay to spend my time at the concierge desk.

I paid $28,000 for a timeshare, does this mean the company I bought from owes me something?

Let's face it, there's no such thing as something for nothing, but no one (me included) cruises for the perks. We do cruise for a variety of reason, most of all to get away from work!!! :)
