bensmom1 Posted October 28, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2012 In Roatan, we want to zipline AND maximize time at a beach w/great snorkeling (which eliminates Mahogany Bay), without extra stops (no need to see monkeys, birds, etc.) After lots of reading, I've narrowed our options to: - Carnival's "Canopy Tour & Tabyana Beach" excursion--looks like a nice zipline but only seems to have about 1.5 hours on the beach - Independent "Zip & Dip" tour with South Shore Canopy zipline--again, only seems to have about 1.5 hours on the beach - Carnival's "Express Zipline" excursion (at the Clip-n-Zip right near the pier, now owned by Carnival and will only book thru Carnival), THEN Carnival's "Tabyana Beach Break" excursion, w/shuttles every 30 min. to/from the beach. The last option is expensive ($60 pp for zipline, and $40 pp for beach) but would allow the zipline first thing the morning just walking off the ship (it opens at 7 am), and ease of Carnival shuttles to/from the beach. It sounds like getting a taxi is too iffy, but I don't need to pay a tour guide just to drive to/from the beach. Then we would pay extra for lunch at a restaurant at the beach. Is this crazy? Or the best way to maximize our limited time in port (7 am - 3 pm). Thanks!
#1TravelMom Posted October 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2012 Is there any reason you are not considering a private tour? We always use Ronystours "freestyle tour". There are usually some in our group that want to zip and others who want to head straight to the beach. Then he goes back for those who zip and we all meet at the beach - perfect day. Guest 2000 Posted October 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2012 bensmom1 ~ have you priced the tour operators? Often times people find them very competitive with the ship excursions and visitors get to do what they want.
madsbrittsmom Posted January 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2013 I have this same question, we were looking at Southshore and then want to go to West Bay beaches but they want an extra $20 per person to take you from southshore to the each for hour and a half. Are taxi really that hard to come by?
