Coral Gables vs Coconut Grove

Leaving March 2 2013, waited to late to book anything downtown near the port - everything is full. Need 2 rooms for 4 adults.

 

Where to stay and what to do?

Coming in on Friday at 3pm for a Saturday cruise

I have looked at Coral Gables and Coconut Grove but am open to suggestions

 

Looking for

 

Reasonable priced clean and safe are the most important

a little shopping for pre-cruise stuff and to kill time then dinner within walking distance if possible.

Have you checked out hotels in the Blue Lagoon area near MIA? :confused: Free airport shuttles and shopping and dining option nearby in a local strip mall (across the street from the Hampton Inn, about a 5 minute walk from the Homewood Suites); most can arrange for a shuttle to POM the next day for about $10 per person or you can cab to POM for just under $30 including tip. They are right beside each other, both are nice, walkable areas for the most part. You could choose either and have a great time. Try the Hotel St. Michel in Coral Gables or The Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove. Coral Gables and the Grove offer live theatre, clubs, good restaurants, live comedy, live music, good shopping and a lively crowd and vibe, especially on weekends and all within walking distance of the hotels I mentioned and lots of others too. Enjoy.
