Lower Price

We are cruising in Dec and booked thru travel agent. Cruise is paid in full and now notice that NCL has a lower price than we received thru the travel agency. Who do I contact regarding this (ie NCL or travel agency) and if so, would I lose the OBC I currently have? Sorry never done this before and wasn't sure how it worked when the reservation was paid in full and has now been transferred to NCL. Thanks for any advice.

Once you are past final payment, NCL is under no obligation of any kind to do anything for you regarding price changes. The best you can hope for is some on board credit. You probably need to go through your TA to attempt to get anything. We are quickly approaching final payment next week, and because of the high number of open cabins still, and the December price drops, I am going to cancel before final payment and wait them out to see if they drop January down to what they did December. Worse case, I loose my $25 shipboard credit. Best case, I save another $100.

While they are unlikely to get a refund you may be able to get an upgrade or additional OBC - you don`t indicate how much of a savings it is - you contact whoever you booked the cruise with.

The only contact you CAN have is with your TA. NCL will just refer you back to them.

 

If you want to try, call them, but I doubt they'll do anything as they are not as vested in you as NCL would be, but it's worth a phone call.

Unfortunately, you can't have it both ways. Don't expect anything as prices move a lot based on a lot of factors. After final payment, nothing is guaranteed but you have to deal with your TA regardless.

They will try if they want your next booking! If a TA refused to at least call and check out the possibilities for me, I'd be getting a new agency pronto!

Agreed, but NCL is less likely to do anything for a TA, but, as I said, it's worth a try. Hopefully I'm wrong and I'd happily eat crow if I am! ;)

Well took everyones advice and tried and the outcome was $15 pp (x4) OCB from NCL. (Difference in price on 1 cabin was $66 and the 2nd cabin was $177) Travel agent said there was nothing they could due since final payment was made but they would try NCL. NCL said they would try and find us an upgrade but because we needed both cabins to be in close proximately with each other, that was not possible. So ended up with the $15 pp OBC. Guess its better than nothing.

This is mind-boggling to me. Due to a price drop I was upgraded to a suite long after final payment. It was no big deal. I'm surprised to learn that was apparently an act of extreme graciousness on their part.

 

Did you pay anything for the upgrade?

We are on a Dec sailing and the price of our B2 family balcony dropped $150/pp. The price of the M2 dropped to what we had paid for the B2. Our TA was able to get us into an M2 at no extra charge. Loving the thought of an extra 30sq ft!

Congrats. I booked through one of the large brokers due to an extra OBC ($75) and they've been useless in negotiating post-final payment upsells and OBC. It's a fun game though- rather like gambling at a casino.

We sailed the Pearl in June (Alaska) - prices on a mini-suite dropped to less than what we paid for our balcony room - we called our TA and they called NCL and we were upgraded to the mini-suite - we didn't get the extra money back and she told us we might lose OBC, which we didn't have anyway - I was happy with the way NCL handled it.

I called NCL to ask about inside to ocean view b/c the price of ocean view was what we paid for inside but they said no .. & prices dropped so much b/c it's in less than a week! :( so sad.

 

Call again and ask for a different agent. If the price is the same, you should be allowed to upgrade at no cost.
