notalandlover Posted November 2, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2012 I have always thought not posting taxes and port charges in the quote is misleading. Today is the first time I've ever seen a cruise line post tax, portcharges and the fare together.:D I hope the other lines follow suit.
DrivesLikeMario Posted November 2, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 2, 2012 Me too! I like it! Makes it so much more up-front. :)

shepp Posted November 2, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 2, 2012 Six of one, as far as I'm concerned. When you get to the fares page, it's easy enough to add in taxes and get the total. However, as my TA points out, taxes on a particular cruise can change over time, so keeping track of base fare changes for cruises I've already booked requires subtracting out the taxes...which is no big thing, either. (Princess always did include port charges in the quoted fare.)
Nebr.cruiser Posted November 2, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 2, 2012 I'm of two minds on this. I do like seeing the total price when I'm on the Princess site, but it makes it a little harder to compare prices with other sites. I know it just takes the extra time to add the taxes on, in my head, but it is an extra step to take. I wish all sites would do this, then it would be easier to compare. PeteC22 Posted November 2, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 2, 2012 I couldn't care less since you're going to pay it in the end anyhow but they should at least force everyone to advertize their prices one way or the other so it wouldn't be as misleading up front. KirkNC Posted November 2, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 2, 2012 I agree, I want the all in cost.
stlouistravelers Posted November 2, 2012 #8 Share Posted November 2, 2012 I believe a new law was put into place requiring the total cost to be advertised. Some carriers still hide "optional" charges but I think you will find all carriers giving port charges and taxes now.
