MNTraveler Posted May 26, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2005 I've been looking at snorkeling excursions and was wondering if anyone has experience snorkeling out of public docks/beaches? Is a tour boat needed to get to the good reefs? Has anyone rented a boat? Also, has anyone snorkeled from a dive boat trip? Any suggestions? Thanks. laurieb Posted May 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2005 for most of the islands, you will find beetter snorkeling off of the main island, however there are a couple good spots on Moorea. You can rent a car or cab and go to the Sheraton or the Sofitel, good snorkeling at both. We rented a car on Huahine and didn't really find a good spot for snorkeling. I would highly recommend Marc's , the best time we had! On Raiatea, there is a boat that willl take you to a motu to spend the day snorkeling. On Bora Bora, again we rented a car the first time down and didn't find anywhere to snorkel offshore. There are some good snorkel trips available onshore, where you tender in.
