No you get off the ship and walk through a building then go out the gate to walk through Nassau. You can take a water taxi over to Paradise Island. We took a regular taxi over and then the water taxi back.

No but in Freeport.....its an industrial area so you will need to take a taxi over to the

Lucaya area.......if you don't do an excursion. Lucaya has shops, restaurants, bars, beach, straw market and casino......
