ATTENTION Platinum and Diamond - World Club Benefit Change

Hi there.

This change (laundry discount) has been in effect at least as far back as April, 2012 (that's when we noticed it). The CWC reps that we met at various cocktail parties at that time said that they had several complaints per day about it.

It wan not in place in June and July when we were on the Qm2 as we had the discount applied before using the credit we had from Cunard.

I've never understood why anyone would buy OBC for themselves in the first place.

We did it a couple of years ago when the exchange rate being used by Cunard was $1.80+ to the pound sterling. The best rate we could get here at the time was $1.50 to $1.60. This was possible for several months when the rate had dropped but Cunard did not reduce their rate. Many people took advantage of if but, like all good things, it came to an end. We would not normally have a cruiseline do the exchange as their rate is usually to their advantage. There is no benefit now but some people like to have everything paid for up front rather than sorting it out later.

A heads up for Platinum and Diamond World Club Members with non refundable on board credit

The 20% discount on laundry and dry cleaning is only applicable AFTER your complementary on board credit has been spent.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I realize this is not a large amount of money but it is the principle of the matter.

Very many complaints were given to the CWC reps on board the voyage I just completed on QM2 but all they could do was shrug.

The pillow chocolates are also half the size the previous ones - too many were being thrown away so they decided to downsize them - "elf and safety" prevents them from being reused.

Having just reached Platinum status we were looking forward to receiving 20% discount on the laundry bill - this didn't happen in September 2012.

If you get to the end of your cruise not having used all OBC then Cunard will not only take the 20% but also any remaining OBC - just doesn't seem fair !!

You were lucky!

It did indeed come into effect in April, 2012. It was questioned at the Purser's office and a letter of explanation was issued by the PO. Basically the letter stated that they had no choice but to follow Head Office directives. The way it was worded kind of sympathized with the passengers who were complaining at the pettiness of the move. Hope this helps.
