jgnova Posted December 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2012 We'll be on St. Lucia for the first time on Celebrity Summit in January. DW has major back problems and can't handle a 2-4 hour tour with lots of sitting/walking/standing. Is there any one place that's special about the island that's a short ride from the port that we could grab a taxi to get to? j
reedprincess Posted December 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2012 There are a few main sights right around the city of Castries and then about 30 minutes north )flat roads, pretty easy ride) is Pigeon Island. In the city there is Derek Walcott Square, the Castries Cathedral, amazing views from Morne Fortune. PI is a national park with a small maritime museum with info on the maritime past and pirates that lived in St. lucia, some old British fort ruins to wanter through, lovely beach area for a swimm, 2 hills for some hiking if you feel up to up and 2 lovely restaruants for snacks and drinks. You could pick up a cab from the port area and hit the few spots in town and then head to PI or just head straight to PI. A one way taxi to PI will be $35US direct - if you add in the few stops before hand, then an extra $10 would be appropriate. The driver will wait for you at PI if you like, or return at an agreed upon time if you want. Enjoy your visit.
