Need skins/wet suit in S Pacific in April?

We are planning to snorkel for the first time on a cruise in April. We will snorkel in Maui, Bora Bora, Moorea and probably another place or two. My spouse gets cold easily, and we're wondering if we should consider purchasing .5 mm skins, or something heavier. Also, would shorty ones be enough, or should we look for full coverage?

Not sure how much we should worry about full coverage for jellyfish or sun in that part of the world. I'll probably not go much below the surface, and my DH is likely to go no farther than about 4 feet below.

Any advice for us newbies greatly appreciated!
