Carnival gift cards, can they be used on Europe cruises?

So I got an email today "reminding" me that Carnival offers gift cards. The next cruise I go on will probably be a European cruise. Can these gift cards be used on those?

 

On their site it says " Gift Cards cannot be redeemed for or on cruises sold or originating outside the United States, Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin Islands or operated by cruise lines other than Carnival Cruise Line". (Direct copy and paste, btw.) I tried emailing Carnival but it wouldn't go through.

 

It sounds like no they won't work, but I don't see why it wouldn't work since its a Carnival ship and the ship does other cruises outside of Europe.

 

I'm interested in taking a Legend Europe cruise, and I really don't have the time to do it in 2013, but I should in 2014 (but those ones aren't posted yet).

The ONLY ship in the fleet that they cannot be used on board is Carnival Spirit.

 

But they can be used towards an a cruise on Spirit just not on board the ship.
