Seas in August going to Alaska

I've posted this on the Alaska board as well, but looking for information here as well.

 

I'm on the Coral Princess at the end of August next year, Northbound and was wondering, how are the seas during this time. Are they rough or calm? I'm taking medicine with me, just in case, but was just curious.

It can be rough while at sea out of Vancouver. Once you're in the Inside Passage and cruising the glaciers, it'll be much smoother.

The seas can be rough between the Northern tip of Vancouver Island until your in the Alaskan inside passage. The crossing on the Gulf Alaska could be rough but it is crossed in the dark when most passengers are asleep.

We were on the Sapphire at the end of August 2009. The only rough seas we encountered was crossing the Gulf of Alaska. It started late in the evening and by 11pm the pools were roped over and the water was splashing out all over the pool area.

We have cruised 5x to Alaska from various departure points. Seattle (2x) was the roughest, followed by Vancouver.
