what is this?

where is it located?

is it on the glory.

is it in place of the buffet

It is samples from various places to eat on the ship.

It is located where the old sushi bar was on Promenade. Sushi is now served on Lido in the evenings.

The Taste Bar, first introduced on the Carnival Miracle (April 2012), features complimentary bite-size offerings inspired by the newest and most popular ‘Fun Ship 2.0’ dining venues, along with a signature cocktail tied to that eatery’s particular theme available for purchase for $5. Fleet wide implementation is expected to be completed by summer 2013.

The Taste Bar cuisine samples will be offered on a rotating basis from approximately 5:00pm to 8:00pm on sea days and select port days. Location will vary by ship.

Sample offerings may include:

· Roasted pork tacos with green chili salsa and aged cotija cheese, and chicken, avocado, and lime tortilla soup, inspired by the BlueIguana Cantina that debuted on Carnival Liberty, with a refreshing Blue’s Blue Margarita as the accompanying drink

· Nonna's meatballs and hand-whipped ricotta bruchetta, patterned after the family-style offerings at the Cucina del Capitano Italian restaurant introduced on Carnival Magic, with the eatery’s house Chianti served from an oversized barrel on wheels

· Fried malanga (sweet potatoes) filled with ginger-scented pork and lime aioli, and pepper pot soup with cilantro sour cream, similar to what is served at Carnival Magic’s RedFrog Pub, with a Rum Jumper as the suggested beverage

· Grilled ham and provolone cheese melt on buttermilk brioche and cream of tomato soup, from the new Comfort Kitchen option debuting on Carnival Breeze, served with Lynchburg Lemonade

· Short rib croquettes with chipotle aioli and guava and tomato relish, served with pumpkin bisque with sour cream, available with a Manhattan cocktail representing Carnival’s classic American steakhouses

Name: The Taste Bar

Location: Promenade Deck 5 - midship

Hours: 5:00pm-8:00pm, sea days and select port days

Function: Appetizer Program

Complimentary bite-size appetizers inspired by ‘Fun Ship 2.0’ dining venues; offerings may include appetizers from: BlueIguana Cantina; Cucina del Capitano; RedFrog Pub; Comfort Kitchen; Carnival’s Classic American Steakhouses

Signature cocktails tied to the eatery’s particular theme (nominal fee)

It is on the Glory! It's not open every night. It's just appetizers. You walk up, they hand you a plate, and you eat it! I only tried two nights out but it was very good. Only problem is the food from the taste bar was not served on the ship so it's kind of like a teaser.

Meat ball and bruschetta. Both were very good.

As stated, these are small appetizer size portions.

The "theme" of the Taste Bar changes each evening. In addition to what previous poster mentioned there were also nights that will reflect dining options on the Glory. For example, one night focuses on the Steakhouse and another was Comfort Food that I can recall from when I sailed on the Miracle.

There is a selected cocktail pairing which is available from bar servers in the area. $5 for a full size. I can't recall what they were each night but I do remember at least one night was Blue Margarita.

The tasting foods are free and you can get more portions of anything if you want.

So seconds or thirds are no problem?

No, was no problem!

i guess if you have early dining this would not be for us.

t

the menu sounds so fabulous

On the Miracle it started at 5:30. It would be a nice place to go and have a little bite before early seating I think. The portions are very small so I don't think it would ruin your appetite for dinner.

I didn't like any of it served on Legend 2 weeks ago. Sushi bar was more popular. Lots of plates with food on them left on tables.

OT: Serene, check this out please!

I didnt like anything I had there either. Pumpkin soup, ewww and another orange soup the next night and one that was yogurty the other time.

the pork was ok with one, a coated piece of meat the 2nd night (was supposed to be the steak house). If that is supposed to make people book the steak house they need to find something better.

I did not see even one person who went back for seconds... so you know its nothing special.

does anyone know where on the Liberty the taste bar is located? I was looking at deck plans but couldn't find it.

Don't know for sure, but read that it replaced the Sushi Bar on some ships. If that's correct, you can see the Sushi Bar on the Promenade deck, Starboard side.

I feel disappointed & kind of cheated that so many of these extras are not available on the Splendour.

When we booked the Splendour out of New York 5/17/13 we were under the impression that the 2.0 additions would be done before then, but after booking the cruise they announced that the drydock, including the 2.0 changes, were postponed indefinitely. Had we known this at the time we would have probably booked NCL out of New York or RCL out of Bayonne. We were on the Pride out of Baltimore in 2010 & had a great time but the reviews of late on the entertaiment & food on the Splendour have been dreadful & I hope that I haven't wasted my time & money, both of which are precious to me, on this cruise.
