self guided tour loop

After reading about car rentals we have decided to rent and do our own tour loop around the island. Does anyone have a link to a suggested loop, or suggestions on what not to miss? We are a family of 3 with a 9yr old, so we are not on a shopping tour. Thank you for any recommendations!

Just got back yesterday. Great rental with Coastal. They gave us a map and told us the beaches. There is a nice beach just south of Orient beach that was great for our kids. Also a butterfly farm which we didn't do but there is a very calm beach at the end of that road. Don't get scared of the potholes. Don't waste your time at Orient. We took our 7 & 9 yr old, $$$ food and busy. Went just to say we did. I loved looking at the bottoms of plane at Maho more than the tops of women at Orient. LOL GET THE GPS, lots of roundabouts

Fort St. Louis is a don't miss for me. The planes at Maho beach is also fun. Skip Paradise Peak as car break-ins and robberies are not infrequent occurrences. Friars beach is a nice beach between Grand Case and Marigot.

We have rented ATVs for the day, in lieu of a "car". Our (older) kids wanted to ride them. We'll get a map but are also looking for round island suggestions. We thought about doing lunch at Grand Case over Orient....will do a beach stop elsewhere but wanted to see the island this time.

 

We will definitely make a stop at Maho, but would really like some suggestions of "must sees" as well.
