12 Day Russia and Scandinavia from London (Dover), England

Recommended Posts

We're booked on the July 3 12-day out of Dover. For us the cruise is the easy part; it's the flights and pre- and post-cruise travel that are up in the air. Our hope is to fly into London, tour for two days, then take the train to Dover with a stop in Canterbury. On the return we'd like to take the train via Hastings and Portsmouth back to London. But it's all a work in progress. Depending on flight fares on given days, we may have to settle for a little less touring in England.

We're going to book a St. Petersburg tour with one of the companies that provides visas. We may book tours of other ports through the same company; there are several that offer four-city tours.

For some photos from another Baltic cruise on Carnival you may want to look at zydecocruiser dot net. He did the same cruise on Splendor in 2008 and has some really great photos.

Carnival can't be blamed for the weather. As far as going to other ports, it's not that easy. The ship can't just show up. Berths are reserved months and years in advance. The contract you agreed to when you booked covers missing ports.

Is THAT what it said? I never would have guessed. Believe it or not, gangs of illiterates don't inhabit this board. As the old saying goes, when you can't argue the facts, argue the law, and the facts are the side of us who were on that cruise, even though the contract is on Carnival's. When an entire shipload of passengers is upset for the exact same reason, it might, just might, be worthwhile for the company to consider that instead of hiding behind their contract. Carnival used to.
