stephlovesdogs Posted December 27, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2012 We are thinking of either the 7 or 10 day French Polynesian cruises and we have a few questions we were hoping some folks could help us with. We are looking to relax, sleep in, etc.. We actually like days at sea and see there really aren't any- which is really the one big drawback for us. If we were to stay on the ship a few days- will we be alone? Does the ship pretty much shut down or is everything still available? I am reading about all of the excursions, and we honestly might not take that many. Is this a bad cruise for us? If we were to sleep in, is it going to be pretty easy to get off the ship around 11 and go to a nice pool or beach somewhere on the island and sit in the shade... Any thoughts on the 7 vs. 10 day cruise- the difference in price seems so small.. We also like the idea of 2 or 3 nights at one of the bungalow above ocean rooms at one of the resorts like the Intercontinental. We definitely want to do one before the cruise, would you recommend doing all 3 nights ahead of time or do them on one of the overnights? Thanks for any help. We are really excited about this. Emdee Posted December 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2012 If you like days at sea then I would recommend the cook islands trip which is 11 nights. The ship doesnt shut down when at port but the destination is so beautiful that you may want to see the islands. You can take a tender to a beach at Bora Bora and of course to Motu Mahana. Otherwise you will likely have to cab it to a beach or use the facilities of a hotel ( at a charge). FP is the kind of destination where a mix of activitities, swimming and snorkelling, hiking /cultural and 4x4 would be recommended. The pG will bring the flavour of FP on board so you will enjoy the total experience. The ship itself is very simple and in some ways basic. If you want a lot of onboard activities a larger ship may suit you better though it will not give you the same FP experience IMO.
