The trains run often but you need to check . You need to leave at least 2 -3 hours before sailing and you can walk to the train staion from the ship about 10-15 minutes .

Take the free port shuttle to the gate, three blocks to the right is the train station. :)

 

For time check this web site, it for the trains in Italy. Just put in the town you are going from and the one you are going to.
