AdobeRN Posted January 3, 2013 Author #51 Share Posted January 3, 2013 St. Thomas was the only place we paid to do an excursion. My brothers kids had never been snorkeling so we booked the Captain Nautica's Ultimate Snorkel Expedition thru the ship. Pricey - $79.99 per person. We went to 2 different spots around a little island (I don't remember the name of it but it was a nature preserve area). The first site had reefs and sea grass area, the second site had an old ship wreck. The water temp was cool at first but we got used to it quickly. All gear was provided - even gave you pool noodles if you felt you needed the extra floating support. We didn't really see much since is was overcast and rainy. Highlight of the trip was seeing the sea turtles - and of course, when a sea turtle decides to come up for air within 5 feet of us my camera decided it didn't want to work :(. Still a great experience. We shared the ship wreck snorkle site with these guys. My whole family asked me why we didn't do this instead
jobell Posted January 3, 2013 #52 Share Posted January 3, 2013 I used Picasa - they have a collage section. I have used Picasa for ever and never knew this. lol...thank you for sharing. :D
AdobeRN Posted January 3, 2013 Author #53 Share Posted January 3, 2013 After the excursion we all headed back to the ship - we were all hungry! We went straight to the Lido area and snacked on a Guys burger and a few other things. I thought the burgers were great. We had a few on the trip. My favorite was just the plain cheeseburger with tons of bacon from the toppings bar added. There was a "Pig Pattie" style of burger - hamburger + a patty of bacon, but the patty of bacon was hard and tasted funny - not fresh. The bacon from the toppings bar tasted so much better. Bye-bye St Thomas. Tonight was the second Elegant night. My brother likes the Casino and spent alot of time there in the evenings. Tonight the host brought him a bottle of wine. AdobeRN Posted January 3, 2013 Author #54 Share Posted January 3, 2013 I have used Picasa for ever and never knew this. lol...thank you for sharing. :D I just stumbled on it the other night so I could add the photos to facebook with out posting "a million" pictures as my kids say :) I don't use photobucket but I knew I needed to use it for a review. With photobucket I was able to download the photos from my Facebook. Kindof a long process but it worked.
AdobeRN Posted January 3, 2013 Author #55 Share Posted January 3, 2013 After dinner we all split up again - that it why I love this type of vacation - there was something for everybody. We spent time in the casino and hanging around the casino bar listening to the band playing. My brother earned his "Drinks on Us" card. Cheers! AdobeRN Posted January 3, 2013 Author #56 Share Posted January 3, 2013 SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO 7:00A - 3:30PM - WEDNESDAY 12/26/2012 Next stop was San Juan, PR. No excursion planned but I had a copy of the walking tour and tweaked it a bit for us. My dad decided to stay on the ship - temperature was in the 80's with high humidity, sun was shining - I thought it was a beautiful day :) We met at 9:00am to go walk around Old San Juan. San Juan in the distance. Sunrise Walking along the Paseo de Princesa.

AdobeRN Posted January 3, 2013 Author #58 Share Posted January 3, 2013 If you do this walk take lots of water and start early. It was hot/humid and the sun was intense. We had to stop a couple of times along the way - just got to hot for my mom. I absolutely loved this port and would go back to visit if I could. I love history and visiting historical landmarks. There was so much to see and I didn't have enough time there. The area looks run down and some of the people appear shady but I did not feel unsafe or intimidated like I did in Nassau. San Juan Cemetery El Morro Fort If you look over the fort walls down towards the ocean you might see a few of these guys.
AdobeRN Posted January 3, 2013 Author #59 Share Posted January 3, 2013 After touring the fort my mom, brother, niece and one of daughters had enough of my walking tour - they felt it was too hot to continue. So they caught the trolley back to the ship. My husband, daughter, nephew and myself continued on for a bit. Stopping for a street snowcone. Strange looking catapillers we found on a tree. Kids loved this - Pidgeon park. A guy sold us food for $1 to feed the birds.

AdobeRN Posted January 9, 2013 Author #75 Share Posted January 9, 2013 GRAND TURK - 11:00A-5:00P THURSDAY 12/27/2012 Grand Turk - Loved it! The beach & water is beautiful! The only complaint was that it was crowded. We shared the the beach with Carnival Destiny. Today was just a beach day for us. We were off the boat around 11:30a & found a spot under some trees to the right of the pier. My nephew loved the fact that we were under coconut trees!
