Carinthalas Posted January 10, 2013 #27 Share Posted January 10, 2013 Several from Captain Lars on the Spirit "Sorry about the rough night, someone really should do something about the pot holes in this road" After requiring a tug to hold us in position in Mykanos.... "Folks as you may have noticed we had a tug holding us in position all day, the cost was 12,000 euro, I will leave a collection box by the gangway, please feel free to contribute" Sailing in to Citivechia....."would seem the port staff had there annual party last night as they are all hung over, sorry for the delay in docking" There where many many more, he is just a cool dude. Oh and one last thing, the daily chicken count of how many passengers missed the ship.

GORDONCHICK Posted January 10, 2013 #29 Share Posted January 10, 2013 Does he have a regular ship he sails on?. He sounds better then some of the entertainment. He's currently on the Spirit. Captains do 10 weeks on, 10 weeks off, and can get moved to other ships.

camz Posted January 10, 2013 #33 Share Posted January 10, 2013 Unfortunately, I can't remember the Captain's name. But it was during our 2008 Majesty Cruise to Bermuda. Anyway, there was a hurricane starting to brew while we were in Bermuda. As we were leavingt he ship to Bermuda the first morning, the Captain was greeting us off the ship. I asked him about the storm. His classic response, "Not for you too worry about!" (remembering the Titanic) He even laughed when I told him that response sounded familar. He was real nice, wish I remembered him name. :(
swedish weave Posted January 10, 2013 #34 Share Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) One captain introduced the Chief Engineer by saying he was responsible for everything that shakes and bumps. Edited January 10, 2013 by swedish weave
swedish weave Posted January 10, 2013 #35 Share Posted January 10, 2013 Another comment that I thought was funny was made as we approached the Gatun locks in Panama. He said " I sure hope this big sucker fits"
GORDONCHICK Posted January 14, 2013 #36 Share Posted January 14, 2013 On our latest cruise, the captain was talking about the stabilizers and said sometimes they just call them fins, as in "deployed the fins" but we can't say that when we have Finnish office on board because they get upset. Ladysilver Posted January 14, 2013 #37 Share Posted January 14, 2013 On our Rhapsody of the Seas cruise in '04 we were docking at Key West and the Captain was out on the crow's nest just above our balcony. He yelled down to the dock workers "Is this Key West?" One of the men yelled "Yes!" The Captain then showed a thumbs-up and smiled for everyone out on their balconies. It was great!! :D
swedish weave Posted January 14, 2013 #38 Share Posted January 14, 2013 A captain was asked what the difference was between a ship and a boat. He said " A ship can carry a boat, but a boat can't carry a ship."
swedish weave Posted January 14, 2013 #39 Share Posted January 14, 2013 We had left a tender port and the ship had been positioned by GPS instead of dropping anchor. One of the guests asked the Captain why he didn't use the anchor. He replied " Oh -- I have her trained --- I just tell her to SIT-- STAY . Tigeroy Posted February 28, 2015 #41 Share Posted February 28, 2015 Just off the Gem and had 9 days of Capt. Lars and his funny daily reports. On the sunny days he'd remind us to always use protection. And protect our skin too! A very nice and friendly gentleman!
