Falmouth, England

Has anyone done any independant touring of the Cornish countryside while visiting the port of Falmouth? If so, can you recommend the guide or company you used?

I don't know how long you are due to be in Falmouth for. It is only fair to warn you that the roads in that area are best described as rural, it can be very slow going indeed, so I shouldn't plan on going too far if I were you.

Well, the main roads aren't too bad - they've been upgraded quite a bit in the last 10 years, IIRC.

 

But I do wonder how much there is of real interest in the area. The two things that I could think of were Marazion/St Michael's Mount, and the Eden Project. But they're in exactly opposite directions from Falmouth, and probably each about an hour's drive away from there.

I don't know the distance,and probably closer to Plymouth than Falmouth,but there is a small town called Fowey that I visited 2 years ago and fell in love with.Just wlaking the streets,visiting the small shops and having tea was a onderful way to spend the day. Just a thought.Enjoy your cruise.

I have been told that town of Foewy (sp??) is wonderful and also Mousehole (pronounced mussel).
