Will I be late for Segway Tour?

Hi everyone! On Feb 13 our ship arrives in port at 2:00pm. I would like to do a much-referred Segway Tour, which starts at 2:30. I'm told we have to go thru customs, then walk our way to a fountain. Do you think there will be enough time (30 minutes) to do this? I'm concerned about putting down a deposit in case we can't get there at 2:30 and miss the bus! First time in Nassau, but really would like to see some of the island! Ideas?

Don't think you'll make the independent tour. It takes time to disembark as well as get thru to the gate.

Doesn't the ship offer one??

Thanks Scubagrl! No, the ship does not have one. I guess when I booked this trip I didn't realize the late arrival into port, which kind of messes things up. We're in port at 2 and leave at 11 and from what I'm seeing, most of the shops and stuff close up at 5pm. I really wanted to see as much as possible, but now look like I'll spend my day at Atlantis, which to me is okay, but not about the island itself.

Thanks for your help! - Nancy

Keep in mind that Atlantis slides will shut down at 4:30pm and the pools at 5 during your cruise date. Its winter, and it gets dark early.

There's not a whole lot to do in the short period that you have daylight .

Shops at marina village will close between 8 and 10pm. Not great for souveniers, but ok to check them out and kill some time.

If you want to see the bahamas..check out the walking tour.

you can find a link on my website at: www.bahamas-treasures.com

Link is on the left at the bottom.

There's also a pirates museum, zoo, forts, etc in the area. Nassau is pretty compact, easy to get to.

Getting in at 2 makes it difficult to do much. What kind of tours does the ship offer? A sunset cruise might be a nice way to see some of the island from the water.

Or you could take the bus to the Fish Fry and enjoy some good Bahamian food.

Oh yeah...the Fish Fry is definitely on the list! I read somewhere, and it may have been Scubagirl's advice...to bypass the one everyone mentions (Two Brothers I think?), and hit up Oh Andros or another she recommended that I wrote down.

So I guess we'll wander Atlantis for a bit then go off to the fish fry! :) Thanks all!

You realize you can't just wander Atlantis anymore. Securtiy won't even let you in the door unless you are heading to the casino.. and they will escort you in that direction.

You can still enjoy the Marina Village, adjacent to the Hotel.

The older Coral Towers shops are still public, but not the rest of the hotel/lobbies or grounds.

you would be cutting it very close to try to make the 2:30 segway tour and you are not going to 'see the island' on that segway tour or the drive to the area they segway. its a $13 deposit if you do miss the tour but the walking tour and a water taxi over to the outdoor atlantis shops might be the way to go for a couple hours of daylight.
