Epic Mediterranean boarding in Rome

My family will be on the Epic May 22, boarding in Rome. Does anyone have any experience with boarding the ship mid cruise? It seems it may be easier to board in Barcelona. Although I could be totally wrong, which is why I'm asking. We opted to board in Rome because we plan to come 3 days in advance to explore. Some in our party have already been to Barcelona (which I LOVED, LOVE that city), but have never been to Rome. Sorry if this is rambling.

I guess I should put a too long/didn't read here;) -is it difficult or even an issue to board a cruise that has already been sailing for 3 days?

There were a few complaints last year from people who boarded in Rome, as they felt they were a bit of an afterthought. The review section or a search of this board may bring up some of the problems.

I think it was mainly little issues, and hopefully NCL have learnt some lessons.
