foxesden1 Posted January 29, 2013 Author #126 Share Posted January 29, 2013 So, keeping with all the Swag got on our last cruise (just days before) I really did not bother to ask about Miss Em's "Gift". I did notice they had a wider selection of Pets at Sea - but hey, Miss Em loved Lele and that is all that matters. After touring the ship and taking as many photos as I could.. I realised I loved this ship. It had a few things over all I think they could have improved on.. but I loved the design, the open feelings of the elevators (if they ever came.. that is). Brilliance totally surpassed my dreams. It was the perfect sized ship for our family. Films played three times a day - English, French and Spanish. You could also watch in your stateroom. Being from Canada (Edmonton.. Whitecourt I think.. ) my husband felt that a major sport was missing.. (okay I did.. but he looks too cute!) foxesden1 Posted January 29, 2013 Author #127 Share Posted January 29, 2013 sorry these are mixed up a little in order.. We only ever played in the Casino on Non Smoking night.. (first formal night, both ships). We have no idea what they did to get the smoke out, but it worked! Just playing with my new camera.. LOL
foxesden1 Posted January 29, 2013 Author #128 Share Posted January 29, 2013 Now I have to say, I love the Champagne Bar - its were I would pick to go every time.. but dear hubby loves Schooners.. so a Schooners we go! Chops Steakhouse. I was disappointed that the tables were not set for diner. Porofino's was and it really made you want to book a table.. (but for the fact we had major food issues going on!) I found Shooners to be a tad to small on Liberty and a tad to large on Brilliance. I think they have yet to find the balance.. (or thats just IMPO)
foxesden1 Posted January 29, 2013 Author #129 Share Posted January 29, 2013 See, it looks more inviting right? Porofino's LOVED LOVED LOVED the next section of the ship. DH and I honeymoon in Bali and at Raffles in Singapore. THIS was my dream bar.. LOL - Sadly you had to walk through Schooners... to get to it! LOL While I was taking photos, a group on architects were there with blueprints and measuring tape. I asked them if they were going to "Oasisize" this section of the ship.. and if they were, how sad it would be... they said no but that the space in front of the pool tables is going to be the new Crown and Anchor offices. I did not even THINK to ask what they were going to do with the space on Deck 12.. sorry :(
foxesden1 Posted January 29, 2013 Author #130 Share Posted January 29, 2013 Hidden card room.. so hidden in fact I had no idea it was there until the day before we disembarked!
foxesden1 Posted January 29, 2013 Author #131 Share Posted January 29, 2013 I have to say, I was not the only one disappointed in the selection of items they had in the shops. The Logo wear was okay - I was glad they sold Men's LONG Lacoste Pants $75 on sale.. ) as DH FORGOT to pack PANTS! He brought a suit (more on that to follow later ) and no pants. AND everything it was REQUESTED NO SHORTS in the dining room - every invitation was clearly marked NO SHORTS.. I was on HUBBIES case.. but nooo he seemed to think he could buy a pair of pants in Port cheaper.. And all I could say is why the heck would we waste time looking for pants???? I did find that pre dinner shopping was VERY purpler with the European crowed. Might have been the free Champagne? Okay so the photo people - they are CLEARLY not ROYAL staff and will tell you that EVERY CHANCE they get.
foxesden1 Posted January 29, 2013 Author #132 Share Posted January 29, 2013 For those of you who read my TA LOS you know we had a quest for good coffee.. and we gave up, and ended up drinking it only in port.. well.. we tried again.. you know JUST in case it improved.. and noop. NOT at all. Never ordered it in the Dinning room - breakfast was ugh - and to pay for bad coffee? We did. It was always HIT or MISS depending on who the Barista was. Internet Access - there are three areas - 1) beside the coffee bar, 2) Deck 7 I think? and 3) Deck 4 in the corner. I had two $5.00 pkgs, plus I won $25 at the Meet and Mingle (more to follow) and I still SPENT $25 of my own money! (Keeping in mind I had a $32 credit on my LOS internet package when we departed two years ago!) It was and still is a bit of a sore point with me. :D
foxesden1 Posted January 29, 2013 Author #133 Share Posted January 29, 2013 I have no idea if these are free or for a charge. Trying to explain a Ice CAP to a staff member.. (and BTW she was the one who ROCKED the coffee..) Deck 8. Our home. I saw many different couples with their own wine using these small sitting areas to chat with a night. And yep. THE NAUGHTILY ROOM! I got called.. more on that later.. have to see to my Roast Pork! (okay Crockpot pork! )

foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #137 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Okay I am back! 200 boxes of Girl Scout cookies sold todate.. its C R A Z Y! ***** When we boarded in San Juan, I was very clear to the staff taking baggage (the very nice man giving out luggage tags) stating that I had RICE MILK and two bottles of wine (never again - so not worth the hassle). I told him I could walk it on, but I will have to keep it with me on my person the whole day until we have room access. He assured me it was fine, and that I would not have to go to the "naughty room" to collect my bags! Well.. about 3pm, we got the note.. yep my daughters PINK PRINCESS carry on bag, had to be claimed in deck two. Enroute down, I ran into a gentleman who had just come back.. and he told me that he was informed to return at six pm. This seemed more then a little crazy to me - so I went down regardless. My bag was there, along with about 20 or so (what I found funny as a Canadian.. was most of the bags had Air Canada tags.. I guess we canucks like our booze LOL ! I explained that my bag had my daughters Rice Milk in it, and he asked me to open it - I had it sealed with a zipline and did not have a box cutter or scissors handy.. (scissors in our stateroom) I was ready to go up to my room when someone else opened their bag - they explained that they had a bottle of RUM they bought ($$$ high end) on a visit to Bacardi.. and they new that they would have to have it held for them. They sadly packed it at the bottom of their suitcase.. and it had broken. All over their clothing. It was a stinking mess. I can only assume that they TOSS the bags around quite freely - because it assuredly happened from the time they dropped the bags off at boarding - to claiming them from the naughty room. I think the staff member could see a situation coming, so he told me I was fine and I could take my bag. So, Rice Milk and Two bottles of wine - cleared. Lesson - never check in baggage with any liquids in it. Carry it on board, or even better, don't bottle with the two bottles of wine hassles.. IMPO it was not worth it. (We lugged these wine bottles to TWO cruises - and really never got around to drinking them!
foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #138 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Muster Drill went well - it was a little cool and it had started to rain. Of course, it was guests who held us up, and a few people around me we busy wining about having to stand for 20min. No one really paid any attention - and they just wanted to get away. Pre dinner music was nice while waiting to go into the dining room. I was really not looking forward to a) the new menu, or b) the menu they had on offer. What I discovered was the food has improved from our LOS TA crossing - portions were smaller but better quality. Many of the old menu items were still on the menu, but with a tweek and a new name. I LOVED the Pork Chops that they served the first night.
foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #139 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Miss Em's first course. What Brilliance did - vs Monarch of the Seas. They broke her servings into courses - which was a) overwhelming for a child, and b)not as appealing to the eye. They did make her a fresh broth daily which was nice. They brought the salmon on its own plate, and we removed have the broccoli and carrots (it was A FULL PATE as you can see) to be saved for a late night snack. There was no rice pasta for the first two days - they could not find them from storage. And they did not bring me a box of the gluten free pasta to read. foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #140 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Yummy but needed more bread! Very nice to have nightly! Meh salad. Sooooo GOOD! My husband ended up with THREE MAIN MEALS. They waiter mixed up and brought the wrong thing.. my husband (not a big man) did not want to tell him, so he ate it.. the waiter realized he made a error.. and corrected it. foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #145 Share Posted February 4, 2013 They face painted quite a bit in kids club - almost nightly I think. The last time I was in Tortola was over 20 years ago - on a Windjammer Singles Cruise (the Poly). It had changed quite a bit.
foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #146 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Everyone got a bottle of water, and in the inside seats, a movie was being played. It was a short ride to Virgin Gorda. Once you get down to the baths, there is a restroom - bar, shower, and a tee shirt stand at the beach. Once you go to Devils Beach there are no services. foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #147 Share Posted February 4, 2013 The water was REALLY rough the day we went to the beach. When you arrive at the beach, and you want to go to the caves, go LEFT not RIGHT.

foxesden1 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #149 Share Posted February 4, 2013 So it was tricky getting between the rocks, and I would hazard a guess that if you were over XXX in weight it might be harder. But totally doable. Also once in your in the middle of the caves, its really not well marked - so always go the way of the water - not the sand. Also no deeper then knee height.
