Hot Shoe Posted January 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Hello, We are going to book the Pananma Canal cruise on the Millenium. Would you choose a port or starboard cabin for this itinerary? We want a balcony so have to choose btwn an A1 on deck 11, A2 on deck 9, or C3 on deck 8. We prefer some shade. Is it true the deck 11 cabins don't have a lot of shade? (the port & starboard cabins) Thanks for your opinions!
Gig103 Posted January 21, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2013 I can only answer the last one. Deck 11 does not have as much an overhang, so there is less protection from the sun and less privacy from the surrounding decks being able to look at you. Deck 9 has the most, with the Oceanview Cafe overhead.
Bobal Posted January 21, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2013 It depends on which way you are travelling. We did the Panama Canal on the Millennium in October sailing from Miami to San Diego. We had an aft cabin but on the corner of port side. We had a number of ports on our side (Colon, Guatamala and - particularly - El Arco in Cabo) but more importantly when sailing up the west coast we had beautiful sunsets on our side each night. Obviously the opposite sailing would have the opposite experience with sunsets. Having said that, if it's an option I would go for aft.
