Please help - question about RCCL Samana excursions..

Hi. Please don't move this to the DR board as there is mostly info from 2009 and such on there and no real answers at all.

 

Has anyone been to the Vista Mare excursion? I wanted to do the whale watching but have decided against it. I have family that wants to just do a beach but not spend a fortune to do so (would be about $300 for us to do the excursion from RCCL) and I don't really want any kind of 'tour'. Is there a beach for public use in walking distance from the port? I can't get a straight answer on the DR board. I can't really take a taxi since my sister is not bringing a carseat but refuses to take a taxi without one (don't get me started :rolleyes:) so it has to either be by boat or walking. I am also looking at the Caya Leventado beach but I'm mad because apparently other cruise lines tender you to it for $15 and RCCL charges $53. Makes no sense :confused:

Also I'm reading that you can walk to a public beach that is shared with a hotel called Public beach Cayacoa. Has anyone been?
