JaniceB Posted January 29, 2013 Author #76 Share Posted January 29, 2013 Loving your review so far.. Thanks for taking me back there... We did get a cove balcony... at 11:00 the day before sailing for Cove Cabin 2283.. Loved it so much considering booking it again in March... If you enjoy sitting out and getting sun, then a cove balcony is not for you. Because of the way it is, you get very little sun, if any at all, depending on what side of the ship you're on and the way the sun is shining that day!!! But if you enjoy just sitting out, reading a book, having a drink, eating breakfast or just looking out over the water, it was perfect, great, wonderful, relaxing... Did I mention how much we loved it !!! Elaine - sometimes you don't get sun on a regular balcony either. I just think with all the lifeboats and the lanai it would be a perfect balcony and you must think so too! You are lucky to be cruising on her again, she really is a great ship. JaniceB Posted January 29, 2013 Author #77 Share Posted January 29, 2013 Thanks for the heads up. I did find all the funtimes on john healds blog too. I couldn't find the ones before we cruised for the 6 day we took. Glad to hear they are posted. This is one reason I decided to scan and include them. JaniceB Posted January 29, 2013 Author #78 Share Posted January 29, 2013 Not sure how much I will get done tonight. I have viewing to go to tonight. One thing I forgot to mention was the Comedy Club on our first sea day. We did go see the comedian we saw at breakfast. We got a table on the far left near the bar without a problem. We went to the 10:15 righ after dinner. As the cruise went on the comedy club seemed more crowded than it did this night. We enjoyed the show. WendyVF Posted January 30, 2013 #82 Share Posted January 30, 2013 Since it was just the 2 of us I decided to try it but if a private car is only $60, I think I would book it too. There are 3 of us so it made the difference a bit less. The car is $77 plus tip which is around what we would tip a shuttle driver.

JaniceB Posted January 31, 2013 Author #86 Share Posted January 31, 2013 This was really a relaxing sea day. I realized I didn't take any pictures. We did go to the Punchliner Breakfast....didn't hear the comedian this day...and hung out at the pool afterward. The pool was very crowded. We were able to secure some chairs around the main pool. We saw the Ice Carving demonstration, followed by the Miss Carnival Breeze contest. I wish I had taken a picture of the ice carving, it was an amazing when it was finished. We decided to go see the Brits which was on at 7 before our late seating dinner. There was an illness with one of the performers, so it became the Latin show. I will say the lights were a little much behind the performers. My sister thought she was going to get a migraine from them. She left early and we followed shortly after. We ended up at the Piano bar, again. After dinner we went to the casino and then to the Blue Iguana deck party. Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. We didn't eat any of the food since we had just eaten dinner.

JaniceB Posted January 31, 2013 Author #90 Share Posted January 31, 2013 This morning we decided to have a room service breakfast. Our arrival in Montego Bay was 7 am and we had to leave by 2:30. After room service was delivered (my wake up call) I went out on the balcony and this is what I saw.
JaniceB Posted January 31, 2013 Author #91 Share Posted January 31, 2013 We decided to go to Doctors Cave Beach. I found my sister by the pool and she said she was staying on the ship and would venture out to Margaritaville later. Around 8:00 we left the ship, walked around in the port building to see what it had to offer and then went out and found a bus that would take us to the beach. The bus was occupied by a large group wanting to find a beach. The bus driver and his assistant talked them into Aquasol. I asked to go to Doctors Cave. The group on the bus wanted to know why I was not getting off and wanted to go to Dr's Cave. I didn't want to upset the driver and guide, my ride back to the ship, so I just told them we were meeting people there. I had read reviews that said it was a nice beach. We dropped off the group at Aquasol and proceeded past Margaritaville to Doctors Cave Beach. We paid our admission, got 2 chairs and an umbrella for $30. A worker took us down the beach near the lifeguard and set up our chairs. There were quite a few people there. It became pretty crowded by late morning. We were able to purchase beverages and food. It really was a nice beach.
JaniceB Posted January 31, 2013 Author #92 Share Posted January 31, 2013 Some photos Tour boat - they didn't have to go far, the reef was visible from the beach. You can rent snorkle gear right at the beach. You can see the lifeguard stand in this picture

JaniceB Posted January 31, 2013 Author #95 Share Posted January 31, 2013 We decided to pack up and head to Margaritaville. Here are some photos we took as we were leaving. The beach was pretty crowded. There are palm trees along the back that provide shade if you do not want an umbrella.
JaniceB Posted January 31, 2013 Author #96 Share Posted January 31, 2013 We did some shopping along the way. We found a Harley Davidson store and some other stores. Margaritaville was pretty crowded. We had drink and DH went down the water slide. Here is a picture from there looking towards Doctors Cave Beach. We couldn't find my sister. We had told our driver to pick us up at 1:15. We went outside to find many drivers, we started walking back toward the ship and Aquasol Beach since he was picking that group up at 1:30 and he found us. I don't think you need to arrange a pick up time, there were many willing drivers.
JaniceB Posted February 1, 2013 Author #97 Share Posted February 1, 2013 We arrived at the port and find that the line to enter the ship was not very long. We had some lunch poolside and then decided to shower and get ready for the VIFP Club party ( formerly known as the past guest party). We watched sailaway from our balcony. JaniceB Posted February 1, 2013 Author #98 Share Posted February 1, 2013 We went to the party...drinks were flowing...not many appetizers....and the standard movie. They did manage to get many of the guest up on stage in hopes of winning something. They were all winners since they were on a cruise. We met some friends in the casino, went to the Piano Bar and then to dinner. After dinner we went to the comedy club to see Tommy Drake. The previous show was letting out and there was a long line forming for the show. We managaed to get seats. I really enjoyed his comedy. He used only 1 cuss word. It was still adult comedy with out all the f-bombs. After the show we stopped at the casino and this is what we found in our cabin.
need2cast Posted February 1, 2013 #99 Share Posted February 1, 2013 Great review! Thank you for doing it. Is the "spa balcony" worth the extra cost over a traditional balcony? Did you use the spa rooms often?
JaniceB Posted February 1, 2013 Author #100 Share Posted February 1, 2013 Good question. I liked the forward location because of the lanai deck, there was not much traffic below us and we were not near any of the hot tubs. I thought I would use the spa more since we had 3 sea days, but we didn't. We tried it the Thalassotherapy pool one time. I couldn't take the heat, so if you know you like steam rooms, sauna ect then it would be worth it. The pool itself wasn't too warm but the air in the room was to me. The door to the thermal suite is connected to the pool, this might explain why it was too warm for me. I also thought we would try the showers, but never used them. We only paid $80 more total so it wasn't a great cost to try.
