Has anyone flown Spirit Air?

We are flying on Spirit from Chicago to Fort Lauderdale and back and were wondering what to expect. This is our first flight with them and also our first flight into Fort Lauderdale. Could someone give me some opinions or advice?

We flew Spirit last year, NYC to Fort Lauderdale. They got us there safely, promptly and comfortably at a reasonable price Thats all I can really ask for. You will get a softdrink or two and a small snack. One major bonus: this was during the east coast "Blackout of 2003" and they were the only airline that seemed to have everything under control. Not even a delay, which we were amazed by.

We try to fly Spirit all the time. The crews are really nice, helpful and they're almost always on time. Best prices also.

The flight was near perfect! Everything went according to plan. We checked in 2 hours before departure. There was a small line, checked our baggage, had some breakfast, boarded the plane, fell asleep, woke up landed and arrived on time both flights. I would definately fly with them again and there rates couldn't be beat!

We flew Spirit Air in April 2004 for our cruise. (NYC to FL) There were no problems at all. Flight crew was great. Flight was great. We even got into Ft. Lauderdale 1/2 hour ahead of schedule. I would definately fly them again. Oh, and the price was excellent.

I flew Spirit Air a couple of years ago. I thought they were the worst airline I had ever flown.

The seats are extremely cramped, the FA's can be nasty and the ground personnel lie to people. I sat next to two guys who had such a bad flight previously that they were sent vouchers for a free flight. They were using these vouchers for our flight but then were never going to fly them again.

I know others here report to like them, I just thought you should get a balanced point of view. After my flight I had some serious legitiamte complaints about how they handled seating and luggage and was going to write a letter of complaint. My husband said, "They'll send you vouchers for another flight, not a refund and you wouldnt even fly them for free, so why bother?" He was right.

They'll never see me again.
