Cave tubing shoes

We just got back from our amazing Western Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Liberty. After a lot of research, I booked our cave tubing excursion with cavetubing.bz. We had an amazing time with wonderful tour guides Jr. and Robin (they felt like old friends) and can't wait to go back and do it again.

After reading many of the suggestions here in this forum, we decided to pack old running shoes instead of water shoes. The path was clear but it was definitely rocky and the gym shoes made it a lot more comfortable. One recommendation I do have is once your back in Belize city, before you go into the cruise ship terminal area, give away your old shoes to one of the locals. My shoes were still wet and so I was carrying them because I didn't want to get everything else wet in my bag. I may as well have been carrying gold... both my daughter and I ended up giving our wet shoes away to locals that came up and asked politely if they could have them. I figured that if they wanted my wet running shoes, they must need them more than I did. This also freed up a little more space in my already over packed suitcase.

That's a great idea! I went last week and wore water shoes. The soles were so thin that my feet are still hurting from the rocks four days later.

I like the idea of giving the sneakers away after the tubing instead of throwing them out. The cave tubing people say no flip flops for the exccursion. After we are finished with the cave tubing, can we change into flips flops for the bus ride back to the port where we could give away our wet sneakers? They say you can leave things safely on the locked bus. I'm thinking about bringing a small pair of flip flops of change into afterwards on the bus.

So glad you had a great trip with .bz. We loved them and I'm especially happy to see that Jr. is still with them. He was our guide and I noticed that he went out of his way to talk to people and explain things. He sat at the back of the bus with us and talked the entire time. He explained everything we was passing by and their culture. He was amazing.

Yes, very safe. Everything is locked up and someone watches over the buses. We left all of our things in there and I have never heard anyone on this board come back and say that a bus was broken into and their things taken (no matter what company they did the cave tubing with). :)
