dagcruisers Posted February 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2013 We are booked on RCI Cruisetour #12 for this coming summer and are thinking of doing the "Alpine Hike on Alyeska Glacier" as one of our tours. Has anyone done this hike? The brochure lists it as a strenuous hike, which is okay as we are used to walking a lot. It sounds a lot of fun to be on a glacier. We really just want to know how strenuous is strenuous, and is it as exciting/beautiful as it sounds. Thanks so much for any input on this excursion. PennyAgain Posted February 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2013 I spent years in that area and know it fairly well. Yes it might be a difficult hike so you need to call the Alyeska Resort and ask questions. Likely the most important question is how many people will be in your group and is there any control over skill levels. The group will only go as fast as the slowest person so if you are a really good walker, you may be held back. Here is a link to some possible hikes. You need to find out which one you are being offered. http://www.alyeskaresort.com/events-activities/summer-hiking-trekking.aspx
Glaciers Posted February 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Ascending Path usually does the tours to Alyeska Glacier. You may want to contact them directly. http://ascendingpath.com/alpine-hike.html
