Chuluota Posted February 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2013 We'll be on the Noordam for lunch on 2/18/13. Does anyone know if the MDR is open for this meal??
jtl513 Posted February 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2013 For you, probably. Since you have sailed HAL before and are therefore a 1-star Mariner you qualify for the Embarkation Mariner Lunch - unless there are too many Mariners and it is limited to 3-star and higher, by invitation only. Krazy Kruizers Posted February 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2013 Seeing as you have cruised on HAL in the past, yes you can have lunch in the main dining room on Embarkation day. It is from Noon until 1:30. A few people have noted that the dining room closed around 1 PM on a few ships/sailings. Now -- we have encounted a few times when the dining room was closed due to a function. And on a couple of cruises it was restricted to 4 star Mariners (there wasn't the 5 star Mariner then) due to so many Mariners on the cruise. After you drop off your carry-ons in your cabin, just go to the lower level of the dining room at Noon and see what the situation is for your cruise. sail7seas Posted February 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Don't depend upon what you are told at the gangway if you ask them if there is a Mariners Embarkation Lunch. They sometimes are not aware there is one and posters here have told us they got incorrect information. Go to the MDR and see for yourself. Enjoy.
