mjtripper Posted February 7, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2013 I am beginning to look at flights for our cruise in Sept. The flight I am considering is listed below. I have not been on a codeshare at least to my knowledge. Am I correct that I will not be able to select my seats at time of booking for the AMS-FCO segments and the boarding pass would not be available at time of check in at DTW? I will have to pickup the boarding pass in AMS. If so do I go to the Delta or KLM desk in AMS both flights have a delta flight number. In addition we would go thru passport control in AMS. Just want to make sure I know what I am doing.... If you have flown this flight what have been your experiences. Sept. 17: Delta #252 DTW 4:10pm - 5:55am AMS Delta #9578 AMS 7:20 am - 9:35 FCO - operated by KLM 1 hr 25min layover Sept.30: Delta #9315 FCO 12:55pm - 3:25pm AMS -operated by KLM Delta #249 AMS 5:10pm - 7;45pm DTW 1 hr 45 min layover
Rare Gardyloo Posted February 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2013 You always check in with the operating carrier. You would almost certainly get your AMS-FCO boarding pass when you check in with Delta at Detroit, and your AMS-DTW pass at Rome, but if not you'd get them at Amsterdam airport, at the KLM or Delta service counters. Ine Posted February 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2013 You almost for sure will get both boardingpasses upon checkin. If not at Amsterdam airport at various places there are now machines that will print them.
alwayslost Posted February 13, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2013 I have bought code share tickets in the past and just did one a couple of days ago and always have been able to select my seats by calling the other company actually offering the flight. When you speak with them they can select the seats for you and they will give you their own confirmation number so you can access their website. Just did that today. Bought my united airlines tickets going to Japan a few days ago. Couldn't assign the seats for Ana airlines via united website. Called Ana airlines today, gave them the confirmation number I obtained from united and they were able to book my 3seats the way I want it. They also gave me their confirmation number so I can use that on their website.
alwayslost Posted February 13, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2013 By the way did that last year with I think a Lufthansa and Kim combination with no problem. This way you know your seats ahead of time and get good seats rather than at check in. Check out seatguru. Dot com to see seats of plane
