Insurance Claim....

I had to cancel my cruise from 02/10-02/16 on the Breeze because of the blizzard in MA. We received 2.5ft of snow, no power for two days, travel ban by the governor, logan aiport closed and no flights going to Miami (the day before, day of, nothing)

Yes I took the insurance but I'm being told we have to wait 4 weeks for a refund! Normally this wouldn't be a problem but the prices are almost doubled for a cruise in March! I just want to go on a cruise, give me cruise credits, don't even care about the cash!!

So beyond pissed right now, you would think they would make some sort of exception to this!!!:mad:

Right now there are undoubtedly a lot more claims than normal because of the storm, which will slow things down and make exceptions harder to grant. I do feel your pain, but remember the insurance company is not CCL and these things take time.

We had some of those issues when sandy came through and we got kicked off the pride and were stuck in Baltimore for 4 days until the airport opened ...if you used carnival pvp, call them and they can transfer your funds to another cruise.... That is what we did when we were told 2 weeks which continued to 4.....

We prepaid our gratuities and excursions... Which is a different department.... We had to wait on a check.... It came from the casino dept... The letter said we had a credit from the casino.... I called and was told it was from the grats and excursions

Also had to wait on check from the insurance company for the unexpected 4 day hotel fees and food. So for us it was approximately 4-5 weeks to get

( beware.... If you start your travel and its delayed or cancelled .. You only get trip interruption, which for berkley ( carnival insurance) it's $500 per person....

For us that had to include airfare, hotels, and food.... We barely made it under the $500 limit.

I called Berkleys prior to booking our breeze trip, knowing that our airfare is triple, and they said, as long as we don't start our travel it covers up to $1500

P.s. also, if you get a discount on a future cruise and yours was a seven day and you decide to do an eight day... It gets pro-rated

im on hold with carnival now about just transferring everything over.....fingers crossed!!!!

That's what we did with our cancelled 'Sandy' cruise.

No headache at all. The rebooked cruise was cheaper, and we even went from an obstructed bal. to an extended.

There was also OBC and money credited back to our cc.

Glad it worked out for you.

OP - Hope things turn out as well for you.

Why do you feel entitled to an exception? Why is your situation any different from someone who had to cancel because their kid broke their arm or they had a death in the family?

Pay for the next cruise and deposit the check when you get it. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Nothing because it isn't the cruiseline's fault that it snowed and the airports and highways were off limit to travelers.
