zwolinski Posted February 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Does anyone know how far it is from Invergordon to Inverness? Is it possible to take a taxi from the ship terminal to Inverness? thanks.
roothy123 Posted February 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2013 I haven't been, but will be going to Invergordon in early August on Marina. Here's the info I copied from various sources. Check it before relying on it! Inverness is 50 mins. from Invergordon. Can rent car, but expensive. Inverness has Budget at the “Railway Terrace” and Europcar is at Harbour Road. Countryside is gorgeous. If you're renting a car in Inverness but your ship docks at Invergordon, make sure to have the ship arrange for a private taxi to meet you at dock. Beyond Hertz, Europcar and Budget were other agencies we saw in Inverness. Even better: try to arrange for car hire from a firm that will deliver the auto to Invergordon -- the convenience is worth whatever extra surcharge you have to pay. Roads are easy to navigate and good. If rent a car in Scotland, need an international permit & may need insurance. See http://www.aaapublicaffairs.com and click on Around the World. Drive on left. There are hourly buses between Invergordon and Inverness, via Dingwall.
DeloreanGirl Posted February 19, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2013 It is about 35-40 minutes by cruise coach, at least it was for us. There is a train as well, but we were docked there on a Sunday and there was only 1 train running and it didn't mesh with our cruise schedule. The scenery to and from both cities is stunning!
