cccer Posted February 14, 2013 #51 Share Posted February 14, 2013 After being on 7 Carnival and 3 RCL, we would like to try others, but since DW is a teacher we only go during the summer and choices are limited. And I refuse to cruise Disney for that money, plus I spend a lot of time in the casino so that won't work.
skiman1 Posted February 14, 2013 #52 Share Posted February 14, 2013 You get what you pay for and Carnival is usually at the lower end as far as cruise price goes. I consider them the Yugo of the seas.:D Just wondering how many more cutbacks will come to pay for the from this Triumph fiasco.
Peg_S Posted February 14, 2013 #53 Share Posted February 14, 2013 Just off a 10-day Celebrity cruise and I don't really care if I ever set foot on a Carnival ship again. We will, just due to geography, but there were very few similarities in the two lines as far as we were concerned. We have also enjoyed HAL and will likely try Princess in the future. What was it like in the evening? Much activity? We don't stay up too late (especially on the eve before a port), but we want to do SOMETHING after dinner. Besides the shows, it seemed like many of Carnival's evening activities started at or after 10pm. And it was hard to find something going on before that. Piano bar, karaoke, piano bar, karaoke, piano bar. (look at that - I learned how to spell karaoke!!!) Peg
bamelin Posted February 14, 2013 #54 Share Posted February 14, 2013 I have sailed RCCL and Princess. I loved the design of RCCL ship (Explorer of the Seas), but I thought the food and service on Princess was much better. On RCCL the staff was about entertainment, on princess it was about service. We spent a lot of time at the Martini Bar. The bartenders are a show all night long. Entertainment was top notch from the shows to the musicians in the various venues. Their Cirque show was fascinating. Lots of activity in the casino at night. We had 5 ports in a row so people were getting tired toward the end of the port days and things closed down around 1am. They also had the Corning Hot Glass show at night a couple of times. We never had to look too far to find something to do but we were with a group of cruise friends and they're a fun bunch. I'm the one who tends to turn in early but I think I stayed up later on Celebrity than I usually do on Carnival because I'm not a fan of karaoke or passenger entertainment. smeyer418 Posted February 15, 2013 #57 Share Posted February 15, 2013 white star(they owned the Titanic.) Do you mean a safer cruise line? lets find out what happened first before you condemn Carnival. I remember when the NCL Dawn hit a rogue waive all the conspiracy theory that it was hurrying to NY for a TV commercial shoot. It turned out that it wasn't the issue at all. http://www.ntsb.gov/investigations/fulltext/MAB0503.htm
