catr13 Posted February 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2013 What currency do you use, do you get vatu (if so where) or do you simply you use Aussie dollars? I have heard the ship doesnt exhange vatu. I also read somewhere it costs Au 25 to get into the cascades but if you pay in local currency its only around AU 10 which leads me believe you get ripped off majorally using aussie dollars. icat2000 Posted February 15, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2013 Plenty of ATM machines in Port Vila and money exchange places.
aussie57 Posted February 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2013 They take Aussie dollars everywhere in Port Vila. I never get vatu. I don't know about the Cascades but the van & taxi drivers put up their prices exhorbitantly in both currencies for cruise ship passengers - still not expensive in our terms though. I guess cruise ship passengers are their main source of income, so they will try and get away with as much as they can.
