20/20 Scathing reports on the Triumph and Concordia

Couldn't decide which one to watch so chose 20/20. seems to be on the dangers of cruising in general. Personally, I've always felt very safe on a cruise. There's always room for improvement and mistakes will be made, but I'm reserving judgment until more info comes out.

I'm still happily waiting my next months cruise, But definitely sympathize with the Triumph passengers and crew.

Right, families of the 30+ killed in the Concordia disaster should stop whining. We get it.

Typical and usual negative sensationalism peppered with distortions and stories taken out of context coupled with outright lies. After ABC is finished skewering the cruise industry, they'll move on to it's next "victim".

This is the surprising part, some regulars here strongly believe ABC (owned by Disney) is only targeting Carnival.

The Concordia was a much bigger disaster that didn't get enough attention. The families deserve attention and should sue the pants off Carnival Corp. The Triumph situation is an inconvience, not a disaster. They should get the compensation package, (more if they sustained an injury).

Not sure anyone thinks the families of the Concordia disaster should stop whining- never heard anyone imply such heartless words. Personally, I am hoping that the official review will soon come out on this incident. I'm surprised that after a year, we've never really heard the facts surrounding this case. I'd like to know the whole story.

I do agree with the other poster that states there is a big difference between the Concordia and the Triumph. However, I am not going to downplay either incident.

My thoughts on cruising, in general, is that I feel very safe and don't buy into the sensationalism that the news media creates to sell stories. This does not mean that the above incidents were not serious, as they were; but I believe they are exceptions to the rules- not the norm.

Watched 20/20. Sad thing is they kept saying Carnival and showing a totally different cruise ship line.

The interviewed a gentleman who went over board the Carnival Ecasty. They showed a different cruise line ship. The man said the last thing he remembered was being in the casino looking for a friend. Then he woke up in the ocean. Said he was there for 3 hours before being picked up by another ship. This is Carnivals fault how?

So many things they showed were just plan crazy. My problem is where does Carnival or any cruise lines responsibility end and a passenger taking responsibility for their actions take place.

People are quick to say it is their fault. Well if you cannot control your alcohol consumption Orr your behavior maybe cruising is not for you.
