Booking with cruise line direct or resellers?

When booking a cruise when "early bird" fares are first published, is there any advantage to booking directly with the cruise line vs. one of the many resellers? Is it fair to assume that the "incentives" that I see offered (onboard credit, prepaid gratuaties, etc.) are typically not available when early booking? Are these incentives any better through resellers than the cruise line directly?

Priced one cruise with line directly, and with reseller. With reseller we got 2 nights hotel, taxi, not bus, right away to hotel, tour of Barcelona and an onboard representative for the same as a bare cruise with the line.

We used the Co. for several outstanding trips in the years following.

Sorry I can't mention the Boston based Co. on CC.
