Hamburger place on the Victory?

I keep reading about some 24 hour hamburger place that's on some of the Carnival ships.

We are going to be on the Victory soon. Any idea if this ship has one of these places?

The Victory is an older ship, so I am thinking that maybe it don't.

I have heard that the Victory does have some kind of a 24 hour pizza place though. Maybe that replaces the free hamburger place?

The Victory has yet to be up fitted to the 2.0 package which includes Guy Fiery's hamburger station. There is however a grill that serves hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken tenders, fries and all the fixings that is open most of the time. I don't think it is open 24 hours though. There is not a steakhouse on this class of ship.

The good news is there is plenty to eat and it is a wonderful ship despite its age. We were on it last Dec. and have a B2B set for late April this year.

Enjoy your cruise!

Is the new "Guy Fiery" hamburger supposed to be better that the regular ones they have on the Victory ... do you suppose?

No steakhouse, but we did do Chef's Table on the Victory and it was worth every penny. Highly recommend it! Everything previously about the burgers is 100% correct.

Hi.. I am going to be on the victory in 2 weeks... how much is the Chefts Table? And what do they serve?

Thanks for any info... would love to hear what you thought of the ship and what ports you went to.

we just got off of the Victory - I will confirm the following top ten things you need to know about eating.

1) there is 24 hour Pizza - aft pool deck 9

2) there is 24 hour soft serve ice-cream - deck 9 midship starboard

3) they serve hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos at the American grill deck 9 midship starboard only during the lunch/afternoon times

4) sushi is served evenings - deck 5 starboard near the casino

5) there is NO specialty restraunt

6) there is an oriental wok window and a deli sandwich window also located inside the Lido - down the sides from the Grand Buffet

7) to get away from the crowded Lido restraunt seating - go up the stairs to the Mediterranean dining area - get your food from the long lines first at the Grand Buffet.

8) breakfast and lunch is served in the Pacific dining room - aft deck 3 - just show-up they will assign you to a table and give you a menu. Waiters will serve you better food than at the Lido - you just have to order from the menu. Better eggs benedict here.

9) they did not do a midnight desert extravaganza - but instead had a midnight "Mexican" Buffet - like I needed tacos at 11:30pm.

10) we never tried the Mississippi BBQ window on Deck 9 aft.

I will also concur that the restraunts/eating establishments NEED an upgrade! Food was not "Wow". Except, of course for the warm chocolate melting cake...

I guess that's why most people would rather be on a newer ship than the old Victory.

Oh well ... next time

EDIT: I get the feeling the hamburgers on the Victory are nothing to write home about

Is the pizza any good?

Some people don't realize how gourmet a burger is. Sushi YUK horrible for your veins.

The burgers are going to be the same as any non-2.0 ship, which is the majority of the fleet right now. Guy's Burgers is only on maybe 4 ships.

Pizza is the same on all ships. Honestly, we love it! Way better than on Royal, in our opinion. Definitely suggest giving it a try.

I wouldn't write off the Victory as some "old ship". It's one of the better kept ones for its age, owing to where it has been based. For the past few years she has done the San Juan "island hopper" itinerary. That means that most days everyone was off the ship in port, we noticed the ship was much less worn than most we'd been on. Given the short durations it is doing now, it's a good fit for the size. And much better than the Destiny, which it replaced.

Chef's table was approx $70 for a seven or eight course tasting menu and wine pairings. The menus change, but a quick search should reveal a thread with the latest. In addition, you get a fabulous tour of the galley and some apps there. On Victory, the dinner is actually hosted in the library. Beautiful setting for it. Have to say it was among the best culinary experiences I've had to date. Worth every penny!

Overall, loved the ship enough to go back a second time and now just booked a third leaving in 10 days. Does that say enough? Haha. She's in good shape for her age and has everything you'd expect. I will say I prefer Victory's Serenity Deck setup to that of the Conquest-class ships.

Can't give port advice because we sailed her both times out of San Juan before the recent repositioning to Miami. Hope this helps :)

I wouldn't think that they would need to retro-fit the ship (2.0) just to be able to make better hamburgers?

If in fact this "Guy" hamburger is really better than the regular ones as served on the Victory.

What I'm saying is ... how much more trouble is it to change a burger ... certainly not requireing some major overhaul of the ship.

Maybe I'm just confused

It's not just a different burger. It's a completely re-branded burger bar. It does require physical modifications to the ship in order to retro fit it. Much like all the things that get covered in 2.0 upgrades. Simply put, they won't be adding Guy's until the ship is dry docked and receives all 2.0 upgrades at once. Not simply a "catering" change.
