katibug Posted February 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2013 Hi all! I am planning to go on the matchbox twenty cruise on Carnival Imagination in December (yay!), but I've never been on the Imagination...and would love some advice. I've read through pages and pages of threads, but short of searching for EACH possible room number, I am not sure the best way to know what to book. So please post your Carnival Imagination stateroom recommendations and "oh goodness no's" here, pretty please? Thanks in advance!! :) ~Kate
crusinpsychRN Posted February 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2013 On any ship this class if you are solo or with one other person avoid cabins in which 3 or 4 can book. The bunk beds jut out of the wall and it's next to impossible to be comfortable sitting on the bed to watch TV. The bed pokes you in the head and it's high enough that it's hard to get enough pillows to cushion.
SadieN Posted February 19, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2013 Haven't been on the Imagination yet but I have been on three of her sister ships. Plannin go nsailing her when she comes to the West Coast. Not too many bad cabins. For Empress Deck cabins be aware of what's above you. If you are lucky you can get under the MDRs, Guest Services or the Shore Excursion desk. Unlucky cabins are under the galley. On the Inspriation the smokiing section for the casino bar is next to the mid ship elevator shaft. Smoke would go down the stairwell/elevator shaft and stay on the Riviera deck. Avoid the first 4 cabins down any hallway near this elevator shaft on the Riviera deck. (Paradise and Elation didn't have this problem because their smoking section was somewhere else.) Don't know why but when we have cabins on Upper in the 150-160range we always smell food cooking in the early morning. If you want an inside cabin look for the ones that are sideways, they are seemingly bigger.

Just 2 of us, so that is a good point. :)

Thanks - we are currently debating between the Verandah deck or Upper - I hadn't heard about the food smells, that is a great tip.

Would love to know this before I book, I hadn't thought about that!
SadieN Posted February 19, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2013 Food smells were garlic at 4am. Love garlic and woke up hungry, lol. Look on the deck plans and compare. Line up the elevators. carnival.com-cruising 101-ships & staterooms

BenjiRodney Posted February 19, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2013 We had an Oceanview on Empress E16. Close to everything, you are under the main show lounge, but did not hear a peep out of that place, Usually only in the. For to change, shower and sleep. swcjlc Posted February 19, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2013 Been on 4 fantasy cass ships so far. U7 on fascination. Liked the price of porthole rm. didn't like the sound of the anchor at 4 am E144&148 Liked the closeness to everything. They are right behind the middle elevators. No noise from atrium. But could walk up thru the art walk to the atrium bar. And up a flight or two, right into the casino Last cruise did inside, very back of emperess deck. Liked closeness to serenity deck
katibug Posted February 20, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted February 20, 2013 Thanks so much, everyone. :) We ended up in V23 - booking via the tour site instead of Carnival was tricky.
