Ft.Lauderdale.. Closest hotel to cruise port

The Hilton Marina on 17th St. is directly across the street. Very nice hotel. You can walk across the street to the cruise port, but they do not allow you to walk thru the gates. (at least that is what we were told).

Cabs are lined up in front of the hotel the morning of the cruises. The door man whistles one for you. Sooo funny to get in a cab to go across the street.

Tons of restaurants and shopping...ALL in walking distance. Walgreens is one block up to get your water or last minute items.

There are tons of hotels on 17th street. This is the best place to stay. As I said...all of the restaurants, bars, liquor stores...(even a Ross store).

OR...if coming in late night before, you could stay at a hotel nearer the airport using their shuttle to get you there and then take cab to ship in the morning. All depends on your budget and how much time you actually have to take in the city.

There are several hotels on 17th street that are just a few minutes from the port. Some offer a free shuttle to the port.

:confused:Which hotels on 17th st run a free shuttle to the port?

This must be new. I only know some that offer shuttle service for a fee. Cabs are inexpensive from 17th st hotels to the port.

Some of the closest to the port:

Renaisance 17th Street

Hilton Marina 17th Street

Hyatt Pier 66 17th Street

Embassy Suites 17th Street

Holiday Inn Express 17th Street

Extended Stay America 17th Street

See a trend there? :)

The 17th Street corridor has plenty of hotels that range from $-$$$. As another poster suggested you might consider a hotel closer to the airport that has a free shuttle to the hotel from the airport. Some of the airport hotels have better rates than the 17th Street hotels. A cab the next morning to your ship from an airport area hotel should only be about $12-$15.
