jorjen9 Posted April 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2004 We are sailing Caribbean Princess in June. This will be our first time in St. Thomas with 2 adults and 2 teens, 13 & 17. We are interested in shopping and sighteeing. Should we did a ship excursion or just venture out on our own? Any suggestions appreciated!
fullo'beans Posted April 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Do it on your own, then you go where you want when you want. I had friends last year that took a taxi from the pier for $15 a piece and the driver took them on a tour of the island, to shopping areas and even a beach. The Islander Posted April 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2004 With a family of four you might even consider renting a jeep or car and driving around seeing the sites that interest you, beach hopping to a couple beaches, having lunch, driving around some more and then doing some shopping. You would cover quite a deal of the island with you own transportation. --Islander For more information on the Virgin Islands visit http://www.VInow.com the best guide to St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John and Water Island. Bee Bop Posted April 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2004 I suggest doing a tour with Godfrey. He is wonderful and it is a good way to shop, swim and see the island. All for $20. his website
CaribbeanBlue Posted April 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2004 I agree, striking out on your own may be your best bet. The taxi's are reasonably priced and private car rental is a great option. In June the car rental prices are lower than in High season. I have used Dependable Car rental in the past, they are nice people. Here is their website.
