Great Epic Cruise

Recommended Posts

I am recently back from the Norwegian Epic and it was a wonderful cruise. This was my first Norwegian Cruise. I have done four RCCL cruises and enjoyed them also but this was one of the best cruises along with my Oasis cruise. I really liked the my time dining. That was one of the best parts of the cruise. The food overall was really really good. I thought the food was better than the Oasis. The buffet was really good. The service was wonderful on both ships. We also ate at Moderno and Typenkkani and both were awesome, Moderno being to me, phenomonal.

The pools were small but that didn't bother me as I don't go in the pool and I think it made up with having water slides. Getting a pool chair was a problem and was impossible for me. The buffet area though had tables outside where you could grab a seat in the sun.

The cleanliness of the ship was immaculate. I felt like I was in an upsacale NYC hotel.

I see alot of people compare the Epic to the Oasis, but to me they are two completely different ships to be enjoyed. I liked the sleek decor of the Epic and it is to me contemporary sophistication. It is smaller than the Oasis and that has some good points because it is easier to get around and you can find someone your looking for much easier. I loved the O'Sheehan's area of the ship and it was always a happening place to be. The food in there was very good also. The Casino was huge and it toook me the entire cruise to figure it all out. I love casinos so that was good for me.

I really didn't like the long hallways getting to the staterooms with no openings like there is on the RCCL ships that I have been on. It was like being in a mice maze. We had no issues with the elevators at all that I read about.

We stayed in a spa balcony and that was the highlight of the trip for us. We really enjoyed the thermal spa and the fitness center. I have never been in anything so wonderful like that before and spent an hour each morning there. It was so beautiful and relaxing.

The shows were good and I even liked the Blue Man Group. I think it's a great show for everyone. The dinner show was a wonderful change also. Legends in concert was excellent.

I had said to my DH that a seafood restaurant with a raw bar would have been perfect so you can imagine my surprize when I see there is gonig to be one on the Breakaway and Getaway. I am looking to go on the Getaway next February. Though being from New England, the Breakaway would be easier to get to, as it only goes down to the Bahamas and not the Carribean I am leaning towards the Getaway because I see that the weather in the Bahamas can be iffy and I want the hot weather. I like that there is going to be more outside access to the ocean so I'm looking forward to that. Also they have fixed those ludicrous bathrooms and the curved rooms. The rooms seemed so small but there wa alot of storage space. I'm just hoping that the prices come down a little. I put the deposit down where you can get $200.00 on board credit. Looking forward to planning the cruise once I recover from this one.

It really was a wonderful cruise.

I always like it when people enjoy the Epic! It's my favorite ship, and I'll be on her again in a month for the 2nd time.

I did want to point out one thing, though. I may be misreading your post, but it looks like you're saying you don't want to go on the Breakaway because it only goes to the Bahamas, but the Breakaway will be sailing to Bermuda.

I like to go away in the winter to get away from it so it looks like the Getaway will be the best bet. I think the Breakaway and Getaway will be similiar. I might end up taking the Epic again if the prices are too high on the Getaway. It really was wonderful. Enjoy your second cruise on it!!

It's so nice to read a positive post about a cruise on the Epic. I'm sailing this weekend (3/9), and all of the negative comments here were starting to worry me a bit. Thanks for posting your review.
