No transportation from airprt to hotel in Barcelona

Does anyone know why Celebrity is not offering transportation from the airport in Barcelona to the hotels they are recommending in that city? It has always been available in Rome and now I wonder if they have stopped pick up service there as well? We are flying into Barcelona the day before the cruise and we made did our hotel and air reservations through Celebrity. This is their Trans Atlantic in November of this year.

 

Any thoghts would be appreciated.

 

P.S. Does any one know of a reliable car service in Barcelona?

If you booked your hotel through Celebrity, then they should provide transfers. If not, they are not just going to transport you from the airport to one of their recommended hotels. She used a car service. It wasn't that expensive.

I've been several times inBarcelona and just always take a regular taxi. Very easy to find and more than enough taxi's available.

We had Barcelona Day Tours pick us up at the airport. The driver took us to our hotel, we checked in and left our bags to be taken to the room when it was ready. We then had a half day tour of the city and he dropped us back at the hotel afterwards. Great tour, great driver and great service. Would not hesitate to use them again.

Taxis are very plentiful for the short 15 minute ride to any Barcelona hotel.

when you exit the airport there will be a guy who coordinates rides, who will get you a taxi, either a sedan or a van if you are more than two people and have alot of luggage. Just give them your hotel address and ask for the price of the cab ride in Euros.

Rome airport is over a hour away from Rome. There it makes sense to have reseerved trarnsport ahead of time. have your hotel call a cab for a certain time for a ride tot he curise peir.

I found the cab ride to the cruise port a very short ride. We stayed near Placa Catalunya at the Hotel Pulizter.

As squadra03 mentions, there are always plenty of regular taxis at Barcelona airport. Official ones tend to be relatively new and comfortable. Since the airport is close to the city, your transfer shouldn't cost more than 25 Euros (about $35). Once you are in the city, you won't need a car as everything is quite central and the public transport system is clean, modern and extensive.

And check the pricing on the hotel Celebrity is offering you vs what you can get on your own. It is very easy as above to catch a cab from the airport, or the airport bus which is nice, clean, safe and fast.

 

We were charged a whopping amount to use Celebrity's hotel, the Majestic--I think $500 for one night in a tiny room overlooking the air conditioners. When we went back, we booked on our own and for $200 had a fabulous hotel!! In a much better area, too.

 

Celebrity 'gets' you by charging per person, vs a hotel which charges by the room. So do the math!!!

Barclelona airport is really close to the city. A regular taxi (Black & Yellow) was e30 for 4 people & 4 suitcases. There are also mini van taxis available for larger groups.Taxi stand is just outside the doors of the airport-very easy. If you are worried about language just smile and hand the driver a card with the name and address of your hotel. BCN is a wonderful city with great museums & food. HoHo bus is easy for major sightseeing and regular buses are clean and on schedule. Have a great trip
