Up grade question

We booked a balcony cabin. For some reason when ever we cruise the upgrade fairy has not quite got to our point in the upgrade line. We always book a inside cabin. Any way, does anyone know if you can still get a upgrade once you booked a balcony cabin and our ta was able to tell us our cabin assignment. We did not ask for any certain room. Just wondering

Upgrade fairy's are in a special place; no one knows when/where/how they function. Given that, yes, we were upgraded to a mini on the Grand (transatlantic), after having had a definite balcony cabin assignment.

Our last cruise on the Caribbean Princess we were upgraded (inside to outside) on a Thursday for a Saturday cruise. We had already left so it was a nice surprise at check in.
